Hello All,
Allow me to introduce myself as this is my first post in these forums. I'm a HUGE fan of Apex Legends and have been playing since Day 1. The fact that I am this big of a fan comes as a surprise to me since I have never enjoyed BRs before Apex Legends. I could just never get into Fortnite and PUBG looked like a boring camp fest that I would never pay 60$ for the displeasure of experiencing. Additionally I tried PUBG mobile and it was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be; disappointing.
So why am I writing this...because I LOVE this game. I'm addicted to it in a non literal way, and for the most part enjoy every session when I'm not HATING IT XD. I tend to stay away from multiplayer games because it CAN and has brought out some less than attractive qualities in me. However I have been able to enjoy Apex much more than it irks me; at least up until recently.
TL:DR
I love Apex Legends enough to write a post about how important it is to me they fix this game.
So here's my issue. This game from a technical standpoint is broke AF. Apex Legends should be THE BR of all BRs and it's not because it's so broken. Specifically the servers and net code. I'm sure most of us have seen the following video from Battle Nonsense: https://youtu.be/9PfFPW9a90w.
Yeah well, that was a year ago. To my knowledge these issue still persist today. I'm baffled how Respawn and EA can continue to ignore this problem. I know it's still an issue because I'm constantly being shot from behind walls. There's also this video from RogueMonkeyJr. to demonstrate what I mean: https://youtu.be/KgDXNNGgvqk
In my experience Season 4 has been the worst example of these technical issues that I can recall. And I think the reason is because this season has had so many LTEs and updates. I'm not sure if that's factual but I can't recall a season with more content than Season 4. And whenever a patch or LTE is plugged into the game, I notice a SIGNIFICANT decrease in the playability of the game. Matchmaking is all over the place, SEVERE stuttering (not latency) occurs, and the net code issues seem exacerbated by the extra influx of player traffic.
My experience with these technical problems have been so bad that I'm determined to skip the first week of every LTE, patch, or major game update just to wait out the problems that come with game. My game experience is SO BAD that I end up turning it off early because I just can't enjoy the game at all when it's so unforgiving and broken.
Last night my friend and I were playing Duos and the Battle Armor event. We discovered that we basically had to play Loot Simulator for the first ten minutes by dropping WAY out of the way from everyone else. If we tried to hot drop at all, each of us would get constant prediction errors and we would insta-die without understanding how. We would check the death recaps and both see getting shot several more times than what our screens were displaying. But if we were dropped far out of the way and waited for about half of the lobby to be gone from the server, the game stabilized and it was more playable. This style of play is completely counter-productive to what Apex Legends is. It's supposed to be a fast paced FPS BR where you have an early fight, mid game fight, and a final circle fight. I do not enjoy dropping so cold I don't hear a single gunshot until there are less than 10 squads left. That's just so BORING and I could play PUBG if I wanted that experience.
So hear is my plea, and I'm TRULY hoping a developer or MOD can see this and understand this comes from a place of hope and optimism: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE prioritize fixing your net code and upgrade your server refresh rates. I understand these do not generate revenue directly, but what you're ignoring by prioritizing monetizable content is the inevitable death of this game. The more people that realize what is going on at the back of the house (i.e. how many times people die after ducking behind cover or insta-dying due to poor refresh rates) the more players and revenue you will lose.
I WANT this game to be successful for many years to come. I want to pay for more battle passes and LTE content. But I won't pay for anything else until you fix these issues. I refuse to support the death of your game. If you read this and agree and hope for the same things I've expressed here, please post a reply for the Developer/Mods to see. We need to make sure Respawn knows how much of a priority this is for the players.
