So obviously Apex is a team-based game, however, you will always have solo players. Whether you are someone who's friends are offline, or you are someone who simply just prefers to play alone, solo gameplay will always be a thing.
But as Ranked mode stands at the moment, it feels borderline impossible to progress as a solo player when entering Platinum / Diamond league matches.
Going into Ranked mode Solo automatically puts you AND the two team mates on your team at an instant disadvantage. Yet there is no system in place to balance the clear handicap.
So, my suggestion is as follows:
+0 RP Protection - Join a match as a full 3 player premade team.
+1 RP Protection - Join a match as a two player duo team.
+2 RP Protection - Join a match as a single player.
With this proposition, it would provide some balance in regards to the advantage that premade teams have over pubs. In turn, I think that this would make the Ranked mode more accessible to more players, and you would find more players willing to participate in Ranked, resulting in a healthier matchmaking system.
At the moment, Ranked mode (Platinum+) feels completely inaccessible to solo players and I would imagine that the Ranked mode lobbies will only grow smaller and smaller in numbers as more solo / duo players realise that this mode is simply not viable for random teams.

I do agree somewhat and that you could have 3 really good individuals but it's nothing if they don't work together. So yes as a solo player it is, and will be, a lot harder to rank up.
Another reason to reward solo/duo players is the ability to help fight players who piggyback off of better teammates.
In another thread EA_Blueberry mentioned a negative to rewarding RP for damage was perhaps players farming damage and over representing themselves and the league they are in when they shouldn't really be there.
Now considering RP are rewarded for kills and placement, and people are camping, this enables a lesser skilled player to rank up if they have decent teammates earning all the RP.
It doesn't have to be significant but provide extra rewards for solo/duo players will help them rank nearer where they should be.
