Kills are recorded everywhere. EVERYWHERE. In fact, there is such a strong emphasis on kills in every segment of the game that virtually no one settles for the knock and goes for the instant flush. Why? Because Apex offers absolutely no meaningful way of tracking knock-downs that anyone cares about. No one cares that there is a tiny number on your own personal stats page that was just introduced in Season 2 which no one else sees. Knock-downs don't show up in end-game stats. There is no tracker for it. Why would anyone settle for a knock-down, then, when you've offered absolutely no way to show them off? Only some of the very experienced players settle for knocks, because they know they have an excellent chance of wiping out the rest of your squad. Everyone else flushes.
At this point, I think I spend more time sitting in the lobby, on the jump ship, or as a banner in someone's inventory than actually playing the game. At least part of this can be helped. Please do.
Thanks.

@StormPretzelNo one will ever give a crap about knockdowns because its too easy to knock a guy, let his team res him, knock him again. There have been teams in games with me who were so bad I could probably run in the middle of them while they ressed and farm KDs.
Thirsting happens mainly so that people have access to your stuff and so that you can't ping them for your squad. Nothing will ever stop me thirsting.

I had an idea if they bought out new finishing moves for each character people might actually start to use them more as i reckon some of them are great

Making thirsting harder would be the more obvious solution.
I'd start by making knockdown shields slightly less useless (a product of their net code favoring shooter, rather than target). Increasing their protective radius would be the simplest solution to offsetting the networking issues.

Here is my take on it....
There are 2 different kind of people that will kill you when you are knocked, those that just want a kill and some extra damage for the sake of stats and their banner and the others who do it because you were knocked down and you're astray from your team. They will finish you to gain your loot and stop you from revealing their location and providing intel (he's healing, rezzing etc).
Now the only real way to tell them apart is how long is it before they themselves are knocked or killed? Reason being they should have the awareness where the danger is and if their teammates are engaged or healing etc. they should normally leave you for the time being. Only reason possibly why not is if they need ammo heals etc.
Obviously there is a fine line but if you play ranked once you've been knocked you've no hope as it's all about the kills.
