You must be extremely lucky to have anything resembling competent teammates more than 1 out of 10 games. Solo would be a choice. You have character choice. This would not force people to play solo or specific characters so how would that detract from anything? You still have the base game without the deadweight of 90%+ of the player base as teammates bringing you down. I'm not amazing. Any well organized 3 man team can kill me. I've also had my fair share of solo squad wipes against, assumingly, the players I almost always get as teammates. It makes the game luck of the teammates which I'm far from interested in. BR's have enough of a luck factor to begin with.

I actually have a pretty great time playing with randoms, and I'm usually respawned whenever possible, lots of people even go out of their way to do it if you give them the opportunity.
All I'm saying about vanilla solo is that it's not what the game was built for, and if it comes out then it'll detract from the groups game mode that the game was built around. Why do you think Respawn didn't include solo in the first place?
Characters losing passives changes the balance of the game, so I care at least, and I imagine so will other people that play those characters regularly.
I actually would love to try a solo game mode in Apex but I just don't think that vanilla solo is the way forward. I think it's on Respawn to come up with something new an innovative that pushes the genre forward even further.

@TheeRealist wrote:I love the base mechanics of the game. The movement, gunplay, skills, respawn, ping, all great. I'd easily give up the ping and a few abilities for a solo.
I'd happily give up the whole BR thing as well. Even though I used to be a big proponent of team play, after some hundreds hours played I find that for the most part all I really care about in this game is just running around and shooting. And it seems to be the same for about 95% of the players I get to play with. I think there's just not enough depth for any kind of focus on team work. Tactics rarely play a role, and there's almost no such thing as map control since it's so easy to close distance and eliminate any positional advantage. The way the game pushes in-team competition with kill leaders and stuff certainly doesn't help either. Additionally, how quickly it is to re-queue and get looted, as well as having an ability to respawn, results in nobody caring much about dying. As much as everyone including myself bitched about how long it takes to get going in PUBG, with required 1 minute timer before every game and very sparse loot, that aspect made you care a lot more about not dying. I remember having tons of adrenaline and shaky hands after immensely tense endings there, which just never happens in Apex. Apex does not feel like a BR game, there's zero focus on survival aspect.
Gunplay and movement are what's really great about this game. What I want is for Respawn to make a good old arena shooter out of this. Something more true to their name, with instant respawns of players as well as respawning weapons and gear. As for solo BR, I really don't care much. Random queue already feels like solo most of the time, and so do pre-mades for that matter. Sometimes your teammates suck, sometimes they don't, sometimes they rock. But it's the same for your opponents. In the end it doesn't really matter, battle royale is not a genre where fights are meant to be fare and balanced anyway. Solos would allow to skip the character selection screen I guess, but then you'd have to always fly on your own instead of being alt-tabbed while your jumpmaster does it. Eh, whatever.

Have you heard of a little game called Titanfall 2? It's really good!

Need varied content badly in this game or else someone else will do it and people will move on from this game, playing the hotdrop game over and over gets stale pretty quick.

I tried it twice, before and after Apex. Never found it enjoyable (apart from the campaign). Mech combat is an awful gimmick and I'm not a fan of that on-rails wall running mechanic, glad they dropped both of those in Apex. I was never even able to find a game with simple on-foot deathmatch, nor does it have anything resembling a good old arena shooter AFAIK.

That's the reason why they shouldn't implement solo/duo modes. Snip
[CM Edit - Play nice]
TO find people at your own skill level. To play with at any time. yes, it is too hard for most of us. Even hard for alot of streamers apparently.
The game is dying fast, and the main reason is people can't stand playing with random bot teamates. Its torture.
I don't care about solos if the game at least has some ranked matchmaker based on avg placement.

really? I think its the best arena shooter to come out in modern times. I"m an old quake player. and titanfall 2 is the only game that feels as fast to me. and mechs? how could you not like mechs. adds a whole nother skill gap though which I can understand takes a while to get use to.

Solo sounds like a valid idea - it would need though different balancing on the abiltiies of the heroes.

I'm pretty sure that Solo and Duo's are in they're game files so.

I dont get why the devs said they would be more transparent and ignored the elephant in the room
