Hello,
I’ve been playing playing games for about 25 years at least and I’ve never seen this mechanic in competitive FPS’s. I don’t understand why if I’m shot and I’m aware I’m getting shot, I come to a screeching halt making it easier to kill me. If I’m getting shot I need to find cover or zig zag to try and make it harder for the enemy to kill me. If the enemy is skilled enough, then he still should be able to shoot me regardless of my slowed movement speed. However, the fact that I come to a stand still for a second makes it that much easier to kill me. Please take away this mechanic. It negates skill. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that is makes it more accessible for casual players to secure a kill. Is that right? The game is fun but this mechanic really makes no sense except for the reason listed and ruins the enjoyment factor for myself. Does anyone else want this mechanic to go away? Does this promote skill, if so, why?

You sure? I was just shot with an R-99 and came to a gingerly halt. I’ve played quite a bit and everytime I’m shot this happens. Unless an Re-45 qualifies as a heavy weapon.

I was curious about this too, and I believe that all ammo types slow enemies when you hit them. The Apex wiki page for "Ammo" says nothing about differences in slowing affects, a tweet by Sean Slayback, former lead designer for Apex Legends says, "All Ammo types will slow down enemies when you hit them." and I've scrolled through all the patch notes from Apex using
CTRL + F keyword "slow" to see any sort of reference to ammunition slows. Only thing that's popped up was Gibralter and Caus, who are immune to slows.

This is pretty annoying, and it favors the shooter, but I don’t think Respawn will get rid of it. They’ll probably nerf it at most. Which is okay I guess because if they removed it, the fortified perk wouldn’t feel as powerful. Also we’d see Bangalores flying around the map with their passive.

"its negates skill", " makes it more accessible for casual players to secure a kill"
I dont agree with this logic. First of all; its the same for everyone. So it doesnt make it easier to secure kills per se. In a fight where both parts land their shots, both will be equally slowed, right? So what it does is that it gives the attacker the advantage, i.e it will put someone who just tries to run, avoid fights and flee the fight in every situation a disadvantage. So in a way; it increases the skill scaling, i.e the player who has the most skill will have an increasingly higher chance to win fights (if we assume that the core skill of this game is fighting).
Secondly; I am not 100% sure how the slow effect applies but I THINK the most pronounced effect happens when you run at full speed and get hit by the first bullet. Then your speed drop from like 300 "speed units" to like 200.. But it seems to me that the slow effect doesnt stack for the second or third bullet that hits.. So its not like you can perma slow someone down to walk speed just by hitting them.. And also, when dueling someone in a 1v1 situation, you are usually not moving in running speed anyways since you are jumping, crouching, and strafing alot. So the slow effect by getting hit arent that pronoucned in those situation, I mean its like a Caustic and GIbbies, who arent affected by slows, moves super fast in 1v1s right)
Also, all Legend has the EXACT same base movement speed. So if they removed the slow effect, it would be VERY hard, and probably not even worth it, for a player to hunt down another player who just put all his effort to run away, especially if the fight starts at mid range.

@ThisGameBlowsI hate it, it is terrible when you are being chased or attacked in the back. Also I think it doesnt make sense since we have a shield to fend off bullets I think it would make more sense if bullets that hit the shield didnt slow you down at all but bullets through the skin did.

I am not sure how it applies. I do know that when you are lagging this slow down in unbearable.
I have been lagging terribly for the past 6 months (I don't even know why I play this game TBH) and sometimes getting shot by anything at all is exactly like getting hit with an arc star.
I am not exaggerating. My friends thought I was exaggerating until they saw my replays when the game is like that.
it seems like there is not lag at all but for some strange reason you literally cannot move when being shot.
If the game didn't lag I'm betting no one would complain about this feature and if you are not complaining I guess you are lucky enough to play somewhere where you don't lag.
This said (that fixing the lag is the real issue) i personally think the feature even in lag free conditions is utter nonsense. Imagine this slowdown effect in Quake or any other similar game.
