Hello fellow apex players! Could you guys help me with a slight explanation in regards to how ranked works ( i read all the official posts) and i still dont get why am i put vs diamonds and apex predators in plat 4? I dont have that high of a kda (1.98) and i feel like my experience is getting ruined if i i have to play vs higher ranked people and i get golds in my team. Also is there a chance we get to have only on split in the future? It takes it hard to reach a high such as master if i only have 30 days to rank up as a casual...is pretty annoying.
Thanks!

Its SBMM and the inherent matchmaker at work. SBMM doesn't take into account KDA, and the matchmaker for ranked will try to set you up with equally ranked players.
However, if there's not enough players, it'll just cobble together whoever IS currently there and throw them into a match. Meaning if there's 5 Diamond players, a Master, and a Predator (7 players) and the rest are only gold tier, and 3 of the 5 Diamond players are premade, then it'll go like this:
1 Squad 3 Diamond players.
1 Squad Predator / Master / Diamond
1 Squad Diamond + 2 Gold players
17 Squads Gold players only.
Doesn't seem fair, but assumedly that's how it works. Not really another explanation for it, because then I'd have to ask why on my first ranked game as Bronze 5 last season I got matched against a Diamond pre-made.
Also, no chance they'll go back and only have 1 big ranked season. Players would get to Predator / Diamond and then stop playing ranked or Apex altogether. Devs are having issues with player retention (AKA how many people come back and play frequently) which is why they adopted the split.
