I think the ranked point given for placements is fine, because you can only hide and avoid fights to advance up to a certain point, probably around Gold or low Platinum since then the higher entry fee will force you to fight to keep advancing in the long run.
However, I do think the points given for kills is a little bit wrong. As it is now, its there to reward individual efforts but we all know by experience that its much random coincidence who the actual kill count goes to, and does poorly reflect who is doing the hard work for a team.
So here is my suggestion. I think the total squad kill count still should be worth 1 RP for every kill, but it should be distributed to each player based on damage dealt, rounded in advantage to the big damage dealer.
Example: a squad gets 12 kills in total; Player 1 does 2000 dmg, player 2 does 900 and player 3 does 400 dmg = 3300 total team damage.
Player 1 gets (2000/3300)*12 =8 RP (rounded up), players 2 gets (900/3300)*12 = 3 RP (rounded down) and player 3 gets (400/3300)*12 = 1 RP (rounded down).
I think this would result in a fairer reward system where the actual skilled players will reach high ranks faster, and the not-so-good players who play with skilled friends wont be carried so easily. Now someone might say "but even though I never do much damage, I still help the team etc etc". So please remember; we are still just discussing the individual part of the RP reward based on kills and not the placement based part, which still is distributed equally in the team.

Completely agree. You can't just reward individual kills. That completely discourages team play and creates more in game hostility. You have one mode, called squads, points should be a team effort.

Exactly. In most matches when you play with team mates that are equally good, you will get pretty much equal damage which would lead to an equal distribution of RPs for kills, regardless of who randomly got the last hit. This would lead to incentives to promote your teams success where everyone is trying to do their best to help their team in a fight with no thoughts of kills. Also in those matches when you play with nabs, you will actually get extra rewarded for carrying their weight.

The ranking system is weighted too heavily on team placement. You get more RP for match placement than you do for actual performance. RP needs to be awarded for knockdowns, revives, re spawning a teammate, etc. The current placement system creates a behavior where instead of reviving or recovering a banner in a heated battle, you run off and try to survive so you can at least get some RP for a top 10, 5, or 3. You cannot accurately rank a player based mostly on team wins or placements. There needs to be more weight on individual performance.
