Rank Points are way too hard to get, and it takes too much to rank up. In gold, I never had a problem with losing RP, and I ranked up to platinum really quickly. Platinum is where the RP system breaks. It takes a clean top-6 game for me to get any RP, because I would like to go for placement, so I can get a good kills multiplier at the end. So when I get terrible team mates, I end up having to 1v3, and I die, I get the -36 RP. That sucks. But here's where it gets stupid: If I place top 8, then I am technically better than 60% of that whole lobby, because this game is obviously trying to make placement more important than kills. So why do I still lose 10 RP? I'm assuming it gets worse in Diamond and AP. I feel like people should get more points for reaching top 10, 8, 6, etc. Since it would be much easier to earn RP, then make the division intervals around 1000. For winning a game, you should earn around 400, with a medium amount of kills.
Maybe something like this (platinum):
RP cost: -40
Top 15: +15
Top 12: +15
Top 10: +10
Top 8: +15
Top 6: +20
Top 3: +50
Top 2: +50
1st Place: +100
For a 0 kill game, getting first place would give the player 235 RP.
1st kill: +8
2nd: +12
3rd: +20
4th: +36
5th: +48
6th - 57th: +60
For a good 8 kill, 1st place game, it would give the player an easy 539 if my math is correct. It seems like much, but if the division interval is 1000, then it would seem like a fair system.
For higher ranks, I would even say keep that same system.
I hope I'm not the only confused player.

sad thing is that loads of * and brain dead trash are being carried to the platinum, there are actually players with kdr 0.3 inside plat IV

@OverratedPlxyer
Well, if you even admit it yourself that you actually are a worse Apex player than the average Platinum, then it doesnt make much sense that you should advance through Platinum easily, does it?
If we look at the entry costs and the possible way to gain RP, we can summarize it this way: It is possible to reach Platinum 4 for almost anyone with some patients. I guess this is yet another way that Respawn is "looking out" for casual gamers. But to start advancing beyond Plat4 you actually need to generally be better than your opponents.
SO many people on my Discord channel are hard stuck in Plat 4 for just this reason, which must make Plat a real ELO hell if you play with randoms =)
November 2019
I ran ranked with the same 2 players until Plat 4. They are both in gold now. They didn't play ranked last season and were willing to run to Plat with me this season. Right now they are playing to plat by themselves so I am now stuck with the dilema of waiting for them(which is probably what I am going to do) or I can sludge through with randos til they catch up.
I tried 3 random games this weekend first "team" I got was a gibby and a caustic. Within seconds of landing gas traps were placed in front of doors and about 30 seconds in I hear dome shield up.
Ok so how do these players even get this far? Camping? I am not sure. Once the circle proved to be in our favor, the little village between capitol city and Geyser, they camped in the building closest to tunnel with gas traps everywhere. One had white shield the other none. They weren't looting just sitting there. Of course the first squad passing through after first circle wiped us out. I roamed the country side around there pinging other spots to move to. Nope just gonna sit here. Frustrating to say the least. But since I entered Plat 4 on a win I had extra Rp to lose and voila close to the bottom of the barrel.
Next game Lifeline and Wraith with decent stats on their cards one is rank 4 the other 3. Want to land refinery as it is the first stop on the drop ship. Ok maybe they can handle spread and cq fighting. We land one gets a P2020 the other a longbow an dI have a wingman. No shield nothing else we are in the main building the lifeline calls out an enemy at the tower to the left and they both jump off our building to go chase down the enemy there. Well it was 2 there and their buddy up at the house who was fully geare up. I followed about 20' behind my teammates and they just charged through the little doorway at the bottom. Guess what theo other team had a player on either side of the door and my teammates got downed without firing a shot. I was at this point less than 20 meters away from said doorway when their teammate blasts me with a charge rifle from by the houses cutting my health in half. Now I am committed on firing into a squad of 3 with a 40 per shot damage weapon. Ok sounds like fun.
It didn't end well.
One more game of ranked randoms and it was ok I did my own thing and stayed close to my teammates but pushed forward on my own clocking of the circle and edge guarded most of the game. Running around the edge sucks sometimes, but at least this game I walked out with 4 kills and some banked RP. Placed 4th or 5th.
My point is that it seems like the ranking system may work, but there has to be better emphasis on kill points, reviving and less on just surviving. I want to find where I am at my ceiling not where my teammates ceiling is per se.
And with all of this I am just going to have to wait for my 2 man pre-made to catch up to play ranked again which sucks, but a helluva lot less frustrating.

Im diamond, ranking up is hard. The 48RP is killing me.
Skill level is hard, trying to kill with solo que is hard.
Just had a solo run in ranked(no idea why) and i decided to camp it out and try to reach final 5 at least while solo, i made it #2.
Guess what, for beeing #2 with 0 kills and 0 assist i got 60 points.
I gained a freaking 12 points for beeing #2, woohooo!!!
Im not the hardest fragger, kills and assist are the things you get the most points for, i am struggling.
