Since you can gain heirloom set for 3 legends right now ( if you dont have any ) and taking into account the chance of getting them i suggest to allow players select legend which would acquire heirloom.
For example: I wouldn't be happy to get Bloodhoud's set, cause i don't play this legend as much as i play Lifeline or Wraith.
And even more: it would be kinda frustrating for me, cause I'd miss my chance to get desired item and as far as i understand - this will also reset counter of opened apex packs ( for guaranteed heirloom ) to 0.

They'll never put in an option to let you pick an heirloom. If you pick what you want, whats the motivation to spend another 500 dollars if you don't actually get what you want?
On that note, the fact that you're willing to spend 500 dollars for a skin and a melee weapon is precisely the reason they won't put in an option to let you pick.

@pastaclown but you can get heirloom from free packs only if you are lucky enough, so if i'm lucky - why would i spent money for packs? This wouldn't even be the option. Like no one is complaining about skins which you can buy only with real money, so no one would complain about that either.
And, for example, if i bought 500 packs for money and didn't got desired heirloom - why would i pay even more? If i'm not satisfied with what i get - i won't continue throwing money on it.

Yeah I think this should be implemented ASAP

@The_Sakaala The principle behind it is the same as Gacha games. You spend time to get whatever it is you're looking for from a random loot pool, or you pay real money to maximize the chances of success. The difference between a Gacha game and Apex Legends is (aside from there not being any cute anime girls to randomly pull from a loot pool) Apex doesn't give out packs or premium currency frequently, and there's no way for us to grind for either packs or premium currency. Not everyone has confidence in their luck like you do. I certainly don't, but the difference between us and someone who's willing to spend 500 dollars on a virtual item, is that we don't NEED the item, but for some odd reason, apparently other people decide they need the item so badly that they're willing to spend at least 500 dollars to get it.
To address the, "No one is complaining about skins which you can only buy with real money" portion, were you around for the "Iron Crown" event? The "You can only get these skins by buying 7 dollar lootboxes that only contain one skin of 24 total skins, plus a 35$ heirloom for Bloodhound" event, plus six skins you could ONLY unlock by getting the in-game currency from the 7 dollar boxes? You know, the one where people could only buy skins with real money, and people were upset that they were forced to buy into a loot pool rather than being able to pick and choose the skin they wanted? The one where the community outrage got so bad they re-released all the skins in the shop rotation at full price and didn't refund anyone's money? The one where if they had let people pick and choose the skins they wanted (with many forum posts during that time commenting that they would gladly pay 18 dollars for a skin, not 7 dollars for a CHANCE at getting the skin, nor upwards of $154 to unlock all the skins not including the Bloodhound heirloom) they still would've made a lot of money? People had no idea that they were going to put the skins in a rotating shop, so a lot of people felt scammed by the fact that they had spend upwards of $154 dollars to get one skin in particular. No refunds were issued for Apex Coins (can see how refunds on real money would be an issue), so in the end, Respawn got even more money off of the event from people who probably didn't spend their money until after it was announced the skins were in the shop rotation.
Let's not also forget the most recent event, the Fight or Fright collection, which did allow you to craft skins. Except they were double the crafting metal cost, 2400 instead of 1200. Meaning there was still no way to get the skins outside of paying real money for them. Compiling the rewards from S1 and 2, plus the events, you'd have a whopping 1260 crafting metals without taking into account the Apex pack rewards, and without paying for the full S3 set of 1200 crafting metals. Meaning if you wanted those skins, once again, you'd have to shell out real money.

Here's the point. They most likely will not put in any way for you to select an heirloom, as much as I agree with the idea, simply due to the fact that they're here to make money, not cater to people who spend huge sums of money on the game. Because in any business practice, you're out to get the most money possible. In the case of heirlooms, they'll lose some people who simply don't want to spend 500 dollars, or people who've already spent 500 and don't want to spend 500 more. But the people who willing shell out 1500 dollars will more than make up the difference. There is literally no reason for them to cater to those who've already spent the 500 dollars, or who are GOING to spend the 500 dollars, because those people have already made up their minds to spend the 500+ dollars to get the heirloom. 500 dollars won't stop them, 500 more after that won't stop them, and another 500 more won't stop them.

Your answer has the point but you mentioned the "collection" themed events and i was reffering to Voidwalker event and Bloodhoud/Lifeline physical releases.
