I decided to try it under the assumption that it was going help curve the ridiculous expectation of SBMM. I figured i would be placed in a lobby with random teammates except none of the squads i go up against would be pre-fills. Instead i get put in a squad by mself except im still playing against 10k kill players and or masters and preds.
Why on earth would they feel this feature should be added. All youre doing is literally spreading the player base apart. All this feature will accomplish is disrupt the match quality along with match queues. Also yourfeature dosent even work because i got paired with another player anyways.
Does respawn really even play their own game?
No fill should be the player being put into a lobby with no other pre fills.
Not the player being put into a lobby BY THEMSELVES WITH PRE FILLED SQUADS.
No this could all be avoided by removing SBMM in its entirety but we all know you wouldn't dare do such a thing youd much rather punish your most dedicated players and reward and shelter the
ones that get on the game once a month WHO MIGHT by a 10$ skin every now and again. Hell you could just remove SBMM for the weekends and id be fine with that its literally a nightmare to play on the weekends now i feel like im in ALGS every game.
I HOPE YOUR GAME BLOWS UP IN FLAMES RESPAWN ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE US VETERNS PULL TOGETHER AND FIND A WAY TO PUNISH YOU FOR THIS.

@SDS_JuggernautTV Not that sbmm even works in the first place

@SDS_JuggernautTVYou are strongly misunderstanding what ‘’no fill’’ means, it means your party will not be filled with other players... it gives you the opportunity to solo drop, explore new lore teasers, test out different legend and guns your own way, work on specific daily/weekly challenges, etc without ruining the experience for other users
It is basically meant to be an option for solos because they refuse to add a real solos game mode, It won’t change the fact that we are still 1 v 2 or 1 v 3 in the same lobbies we normally play in but at least we are not forced to be handcuffed to randoms every game
note: don’t worry about it ruining the flow of the match, in trios for example there will still be 20 squads of trios but you may see teams above 20 which are no fill players and there can only be 6 no fill players in any given match so basically 20-26 squads in trios or 30-36 squads in duos
Read the Official Patch Notes for more information, no where does it say it is meant to curb sbmm, I think you are thinking about the leak about (#PL Solos Ranked) I saw where they talked about being matched up into games without premade squads but that was just an assumption they made based off of the name and anything a leaker says should be taken with a grain of salt because it could always be scrapped or changed by the time it makes it to the game

The No-Fill is still far from what people need. You're intentionally putting yourself at a disadvantage. And unless you are some ultra elite player who has near 100% accuracy, you're basically not meant for this mode. But since we will never get a proper solo-mode with the intention of actually giving lone wolves some enjoyment in this game, we'll have to roll with this for now. Though part of me knows this mode will die sooner than the work of code was worth it.

Sorry but its not Respawns fault that you '"assume" things about new features that no one ever claimed was the aim of said feature. Respawn explained it very clearly what nofill was, i.e that a maximum of six solo players per lobby, that otherwise would have been paired up with either a premade duo or two other solos, now joins the TRIO queue as a one-man squad. So dont blame Respawn because you understand or care what they actually say. Its not their fault that you "assume" things, i.e make up things in your mind and then get pissy about it when your fantasies dont become reality.
So do yourself a favor and change the title to "No fill is not what I thought and I should have read the patch notes".
But I DO agree that this feature probably wont be very popular. People who wanna do their own thing has nothing to lose to have two teammates so why even bother queueing as nofill?
"No this could all be avoided by removing SBMM in its entirety"
The problem with your "assumption" here, and I know that you are not alone in this, is that you assume there is a strict SBMM in the first place. Please, do me a favor; find me ONE quote where someone from Respawn actually talks about SBMM. As far as I know, no one at Respawn has EVER claimed that there is a SKILLED BASED MATCHMAKING in the causal mode. This season have I already played one account from Bronze4 to Diamond 4, and one account from Gold 1 to Diamond 3, and I would estimate that my average casual lobby has an average skill level of maybe Gold 3. I have an overall K/D of 2.6 and if I substract my ranked matches and kills, I pretty recently calculated that I have well over 3 K/D just counting my 5k+ casual matches. So obviously, I get matched with many players probably with less than 1 K/D -> if there even is a SBMM, its very weak.

Are you seriously trying to deny the existence of SBMM? You literally have to be out of your mind or you just dont play this game and if you do barely.

@apostolateofDOOMI don’t understand exactly how sbmm works, I noticed that if I win a game I seem to be matched with the champion if I was not the champion or I also have noticed that If I win a game I have been matched with people from enemy team I just beat or lost to, I understand this could be coincidence but maybe placement is a factor but I also have been on a losing streak and then get matched with the champion 2-3 games in a row... so who knows

@TheApexLegendNub They haven't released much info on it (for obv reasons) so no one can say definitively, but i would imagine placement comes into it and not just based on a single previous match but several matches. This is from feedback from previous seasons where those who have created new accounts had multiple matches before going up into tougher lobbies but i'm not sure if that's been changed since as they constantly alter it. Also one of Respawns main concerns with instant play is waiting times so it wouldn't take long ie couple seconds to expand on the amount of players available in each data center lowering that criteria anyway. Lets not forget that a predator will be matched with 2 sub level 100's pretty often too for match balance so lots of things it will likely consider.
The version of SBMM we had during S1 and 2 was much more relaxed than S3 and with minor tweaks since, what we currently have. I do agree with Chad that having SBMM protecting new players will help with new player retention BUT having it to strong, especially after a certain point, will only promote people throwing matches for easier games, other exploits to get into those games or creating smurfs which are already a big problem in Apex. Just one diamond + could destroy half the players in a match of new players quite easily.
Problem is, i doubt they have or even will calculate how many smurfs or people are bypassing these protections to work out the difference between that and a lax SBMM. Even if they did i doubt they would publish their findings or make much change to it because that would be admitting they messed up. Same can be said with ranked and people throwing matches to lose RP to remain in lower tiers for badges or just easier games. This also won't be changed because the overall structure of ranked is to increase engagement so in their eyes, the negatives don't outweigh the benefits.
