The audio is still a huge problem in this game despite the rework they did from season 6. I feel like there is no change, you can hear gunshots and other sounds from far, far away but you can't hear an enemy that's right behind you. In a BR where third parties are everywhere that is quite an essential flaw and leaves players mighty pissed off when it happens.
My experience is that other sounds overpower footsteps. It's fine as long as it's quiet but if you either start hearing gunshots or come to a place at the map that makes a lot of noise, the sound for footsteps will be insufficient. This is especially true for Pathfinder and Revenants footsteps with that metallic like sound. Respawn need to add another passive to their ability list since they can sneak up behind you without a noise.
A perfect example is when you are in Countdown on Worlds Edge or Solar Array at Olympus. The amped walls being raised at WE are so loud and last so long and as they are being raised all other sounds gets overpowered by that. The same at Solar Array on Olympus with all the sounds going on there for some unknown reason.
I have played Apex since season 2 and absolutely love the gameplay but the game has so many problems and the developers failure time and time again to meet the demands of the players made me finally have enough. It does not matter how good the gameplay is if core elements such as sound and server performance is bad, and don't even get me started on the "SBMM" *.
Also one last remark since im venting it all out; Olympus in it's current state is trash and a third party central. Massive open areas with no cover where all roads lead to hammond labs for one massive final battle between 7 squads. Thank you.

Most of the season 7 problems stem from Horizon being so bugged her powers will remove sound some time. Respawn are so bad at this it is scary.
