No seriously. One gripe I've always had with the game is the respawn mechanic. I *like* that there are nodes on the map that are important. I don't like the amount of time and difficulty it takes for a dead player to get back into the game. Often randos will be faced with a choice when they're killed... wait for your teammate to defeat whomever killed you, get your banner, get to a respawn beacon... or just quit and start another game in a couple minutes. I think the fact that lots of players choose to quit and try again is very reasonable. But if you make respawning not require that long and uncertain process of recovering the banner, players don't have to sit around waiting and know exactly how much time they have to wait to keep going.
Just think about it as breaking down how much of player time is spent doing stuff. You want players to be in the action as much as possible (at least running around and collecting loot). But forcing teammates to do the (sometimes impossible/unreasonable) chore of picking up a banner means that dead players don't know how much time they have to wait, or if they will be respawned at all. It's very unsatisfying to have your beacon time out. It doesn't make the game better.
Now respawn could do something like providing a bonus to the rez'ing player for having been respawned at a beacon. It could trigger a care package in that area. It could give them some armor and a weapon to start. Etc... This would be a carrot in the carrot-or-stick approach. Rather than punishing players for not doing something, you can reward them for playing the game this way.
Also, in LDL it can get crazy in the late game when teammates keep respawning in an every-shrinking circle. But this is exciting and fun! The players who survived get to have more targets to shoot at, and the players coming in get another chance to win the game.
If any Dev's read this, I think a strong argument could be made to improving the user experience by trying to get players to be engaging in the most fun activities as often as possible, and changing/removing/adding mechanics which promote that. I think the banner/respawn mechanic is interesting, but causes players to NOT engage with the game, which is bad.
Anyway, my point is that I really enjoyed the LDL mode. I think it, or a variation thereof, should be the standard.

@DraknostHonestly if they just gave us solos it would stop alot of players from leaving, Alot of players hate being forced with other players every game so will drop solo without a team and could care less about their team... adding penaltys would only harm the team players and not the solo players leaving unless they are ones who hotdrop and leave as soon as they die
I get into moods where i want to be solo myself so will just do my thing, Im usually more generous than most and atleast stay close to my team like in the same area they are in but in some matches if they are just toxic as hell or going to a horrible drop location with a 90% chance of instant death I may just go off solo on my own it dosnt happen often but I have done that a few times because I want a solo playstyle to atleast enjoy the game which isnt possible as a 3 vs 3, the only time I personally enjoy the game is as a solo or a duo, and very rarely I will get a good trio but really rarely with randoms
i encounterred the LiveDieLeave issue that you mentioned, but respawn/ea set that up themselves... most players dont want to spectate other players for minutes at a time and they should of allowed us to collect banners and use respawn beacons
