lower skill levels don’t get a ‘’free’’ easy win as you say remember it is OUR SKILL LEVEL ITS CHALLENGING FOR US but not impossibly overwhelming compared to facing one of you the end game is still very intense Idk players ranks I just know I still face players with 1 kill up to 8000 kills im not in a lobby with people with doodoo for brains all the time some of the players are what I consider a bit above my skill level but not anywheres close to a predators level either alot of luck is involved aswell and positioning and abunch of other factors can change the fight
a single solo predator is all it takes to wipe a full lobby Ive seen many yt videos staycation solos all the time or sethlyy zeus soarkobi etc so SBMM semi stops that from happening, but im sure they can still do it but with less kills
I will shorten it up a little if it is too complicated. Thank you for actually expressing you had trouble understanding.
Just take it in line by line, my dude. I'm not saying you get free wins at your level? Just that you have more variance and are punished less / held to a different standard. Punished less is the keyword, because as you get better you will be punished more. The better you get, the less variance in your games, the more mistakes punish you (To the point of dying and losing.), the higher a standard you need to uphold as player be over and over. Mistakes come in the form of missing shots, not timing rotates quick enough, not healing in time, etc. If I am not playing with a competitive team, I tend to die and lose more. Not just a little, a lot. There are very rarely those characteristically fun struggles to work together, to win together. You need to be insane and / or outplay the enemy team severely to not die or lose as a solo most of the time, that or get lucky and not get a back-filled lobby where the people on your team cannot aim or have little to no game sense (Below level 50.).
If we are so focused on helping new or very low level players, why does it seem that SBMM works from a more top-down approach? As you get better, you are punished more. SBMM should focus harder on the new / lower level ranks as I recommended. SBMM shouldn't apply to the players entire experience in unranked matches. At some point it is no different than the matches one would expect from ranked games at their current skill level.

Yes, the walls of text one might expect when having an honest discussion.

@FaIIenAngeI777 Responding to your longer and newer response - What if I told you that the SBMM was working exactly as intended putting you into those matches? What if you were performing good enough at the SBMM rank you were at in the event or unranked and it decided to bump you up to the next ranking?
Put simply, that is what I suspect happened. I am not looking to kick you while you're down, but without clarification from developers, I want to make it clear that this is the answer I suspect is likely. Now to go deeper into your experience, yes, most of my lobbies are like that as well, probably harder. It is hard to explain my experience through text, but I do hope in some ways you might learn from the experience you are having right now.
Here is a thought exercise - Pretend you have a choice to go back to your previous ranking of SBMM. Flip of a switch, ting, you're back in your old SBMM ranking. Easier time aiming and fighting, better chance at surviving, less punishment for mistakes. That's how most of my friends feel, because I like playing with all sorts of people (Not just high ranking players.). They enter my lobby, they just want to flip a switch and leave due to the disparity in skill.

i was enjoying apex alot until the new sbmm arrived. as a player that this is supposed to help, i can assure you it is not!
i had 30 wins season 3 pre update and 1, maybe 2 since and that was dumb luck
if i want to play against ever hardening players then i will go to a ranked lobby, it is after all exactly what it supposed to be.
note: i am well and truly stuck at gold 3. (just reasserting the fact that i am not a pro player)
please if someone from apex follows these threads count my vote AGAINST the new match making robots
Thank you for providing your experience and explaining how you are running against players that get better and better as you do.

@JiboTVWell whatever decision they made is dumb af, if I play with R-99 and attempt to be a sweaty wraith everygame I could attempt this lobby style but I play as all characters so I can’t do these type of lobbies if its going to be like this apex legends can go to hell i will play with 6-13 yr olds on fortnite i cant even do 100 damage most games now...

Hey Jibo,
you said the following:

When I enter unranked lobbies, at least half of the teams I fight are pre-made,
its primary goal is to encourage a space for newer players to not feel intimidated by players with a better understanding of the game
Your options are to perform better than you did in the previous match, or just die.
players rank 30 or below would be matched to players of a similar skill level
my questions:
How do you know / how can you evaluate if enemy teams are premade or not?
How Do you check all teams in the lobby? Is there a hidden statistic I don't now?
Understanding of the game is not the only thing that brings you to a win!
Did you ever think about physical differences of extreme young players (with good eye hand coordination and fast reactions) and older players (less reaction, bad eyes).
Should all handicapped players be stomped right through the whole game?
Shall they quit playing thisn game instead getting a fair chance?
I noticed too, that I get a new skill ranking after every single match.
Often I win one of the first 1-3 matches.
But is the system really learnign so fast?
Your rank of ranked mode is determined by the wins/ the placement you get.
I think it's not representing your current skill!
You have days you play better and day you play worse.
Don't you think with this fast reacting SBMM you get more suitable matches every time you play?
At ranked mode you are trapped at the high rank if you ave a bad day.

@G3T_ST1FF3D wrote:So sick and tired of Youtubers and others crying that they can no longer pawn noobs all day long and get a 20 kill game every day. Welcome to the game that 90+ percent of us experience every time we play. Pre-made squads of good players dominate yes, and noobs like myself get pwned a lot, and most of us do not have a pre-made squad and yes it's a design fault.
But that doesn't mean we should go back to no SBMM where noobs like myself do not get a game at all. Staycation uploaded a Youtube video yesterday crying the same which actually turns out to illustrate the best reason why SBMM should stay. EA/Respawn should not be changing game design to accommodate 0.2% of the player base which the other 99.8% would suffer for.
I think you didn't read the initial post, the responses, or check yourself before entering the conversation. The fact you see this as 0.2% vs. 99.8% is a problem, because that isn't how issues with this system are manifesting. They are manifesting on the basis that as someone performs better, they get punished with equal to or greater level opponents. We have a clear case of FallenAngel777 explaining that it literally just happened to them. There was a recent poll on Reddit asking players if they are happy with the current SBMM and over 70% said no, across ALL skill levels pretty proportionally.
As for wanting to just destroy noobs, again, I don't even think you tried to read my original post. My recommendation is literally trying to prevent the newest or worst players from getting destroyed if that's what Respawn wants. This is not a a simple black and white issue of good players either getting to destroy noobs or fight tougher matches. I am not and will not be treated like I am oblivious to the plight of lower level players, just like I'm not oblivious to the issues players will experience as they get better! I will not reiterate my point for the umpteenth time, go read my post and some of the comments / responses, ya dullard.
Here is a quote for everyone in the thread - You get better by fighting better players, there is no denying that. But if the whole game is just fighting better players to fight even better players to fight even better players, what is the game? It is a competitive grind with no light at the end of the tunnel. I didn't even know who this Staycation dude is, but the video this guy mentioned has a peculiar moment in it that really made me think. He says "All the new players who are playing this game are not going to get good at this game." in response to making a new account to play and experience SBMM fresh. It made me really think, I got better by seeing and playing with people who were better than me. I wonder how new players treat the game walking in now. Does it look and feel like the most casual BR ever (Beyond a smurf or two.), or is there a clear goal that new players can reach for to get better? Anyway, thanks for the surprise insight @G3T_ST1FF3D , now feel free to respond to this thread when you've read it.
