Hey,
I see surprisingly few comments about the 1v3 as solo pred vs full team of preds in unranked.
I mean there is obviously a problem with MM if they even allow such thing, but its not that you are expected to play as 3 ppl if your matched with low ranked players.
The problem is obviously that the low ranked players are expected to be an par with the other high ranked players. Both in casual and ranked I hope and think they do as much as possible to not match full 3 man squads with solo/duo quers.
Its way more unfair to the low ranked players you are matched with then to you. You are at least playing in your tier. I think most ppl agree that something is wrong with the current MM system, but to say that disabling it all together would make a perfect world is nonsense. Where all games would be ruined by 3 man pred squads rampaging, with only one such team in a single matchup, it would destroy the experience for way more ppl then the current system is. Averging out teams based on some kind of skill lvl 1-100 as some have mentioned seems quite good to me, im not sure if thats what they try to do already, evening it out a bit so that the skill difference between players are less for sacrificing fast ques might be a good idea.
Im diamond player myself, and for my ranked and casual is the same kind of games atm too, most games there are pred duos, full pred squads or cheaters ripping the servers apart.
The point is its not enjoyable for a player like me to get matched vs pred players even tho you are "playing" casual.. you will never be so casual that its even remotely fair to anyone below D1/2.
Sure i dont enjoy the games where MM turns me into a carry either. The most fun games are the balanced for me, where ppl are around my skill some lower some better, but hardly any on either side of the spectre.

@JiboTVI agree with you on this. I have gone from playing this game from the first second it was released almost every day for about 4 hours to maybe playing it once a week now because i cant have fun when playing by myself because unfortunately all my friends have stopped playing because this season has been a huge let down. i also understand the point of SBMM protecting the newer and less skilled players.. but in a game that has 2 modes (ranked and casual) and the lobbies end up being literally the same as i am a predator rank.. The game starts to get very stale and frustrating. Now im not even saying take out SBMM entirely, but they need to turn it down quite a bit. Also they seriously need more LTM's and need to bring back duos. Something to give this game some sort of life and excitement again. Makes me really sad cause this is one of my favourite games of all time. At this point i'm just praying season 4 is amazing or i probably wont be playing this game for much longer.

@DirtybuungI'm sort of in the same boat, I used to come home from work, and play solo, because my friends online don't really enjoy apex legends too much. My experience from playing with randoms is a lot of the time they're pretty toxic or they're in a duo and don't help you at all, that was before match making arrived too.
So i play SOLO like 99% of the time, i'd say i'm pretty competent, i used to do pretty well. Now i'm really struggling to play. Mainly because playing solo you get teammates that instantly leave. Now in the past this wasn't such an issue because there was a chance i wouldn't be facing the very best of the best, 20k kills + players.
So before SBMM if i had bad teammates i could hold my own and carry on having fun. I didn't really care if my teammates instantly left and i'd just carry on, if i face a squad of 3 depending on how good they were i'd either die instantly, or hold my own and do well. Since it isn't my fault i'm alone at this point.
Now, it's different... if they leave instantly, which a lot of the time playing solo, they do because 1. There isn't any punishment, and 2. it's "casual".
So going from being able to hold my own to needing to sweat everytime i play, if my teammates rage quit or leave instantly i'm screwed every single game, going 3v1 against "match making" players of "similar" skill, is not fun, and never will be.
playing casually, should be just that.. if you're not very good at the game it doesn't mean every single match you play is going to be bad. Every game has a learning curve.
Playing solo is literally torture right now and i can't see myself playing for much longer, i don't want to pub stomp, i play solo all the time so the chances of me beating 3 man squads before match making was low anyway, now it's impossible and not fun at all.
There is no variety, playing casually for someone that isn't a GOD TIER player is sometimes fun to be able to feel like they're good by doing well. You can't DO well anymore because the moment you do it sticks you against players that are above your skill that are 3 man squad while you're SOLO and have teammates that rage quit.
People would complain about team mates always sucking before SQMM, i did too.. but i'd rather them suck and have the possibility of enjoying playing solo, than just getting destroyed every single game when my teammates inevitably rage quit.
This makes it seem like a quitting early issue, but this wasn't as bad of an issue before SQMM, in my opinion it shouldn't be in casual.
If you want to play against the best players, or players of equal skill, shouldnt that be in ranked? that's where you should go for a challenge, and to sweat.
when ranked first arrived, i avoided it, because i thought it would be a sweat fest and not enjoyable. When i tried it, from ranks bronze to diamond it wasn't so bad, then going above that it was pretty sweaty so i'd just play casual because i didn't enjoy the type of gameplay ranked was offering.
Now that gameplay is also in unranked... and it's killing the game for me.
Casual should be fun, no F**** given sort of gameplay.
If you have friends that are new to apex legends too, they can't even squad with you, because they will get stomped every single game.
SQMM needs to go, or be tweaked, maybe letting new players go against players levels 20 and below before they go into total random games and once they hit level 21 they are put into normal match making.

So As a lower level player my point of view.... I get teamed with HIGHER lever players a lot. with SBMM and die, and then die, and then die...... I have no chance when I drop and a much better team rips me apart... I feel like SBMM has made this game harder to play. I am a rank of only 50 so when I get my team they all seem to be kinda lower ranks... and then the teams we have to play are like 2500+ kills I mean???? I know I need to get better but its kinda hard to grow skill, and get better when you can not even react and your dead. I feel like the game was way better with out SBMM the lobby was more even, MY K/D has dropped to a 0.22 since SBMM has been put in. I really wish EA would find a way to balance this or remove it again. Because its not helping make the game seem fair at all. I had a lot more fun with stronger team mates with out SBMM, It did not feel like ok I'll just have to stand here and die with this SBMM that is in place. I think EA could really find a better way to balance the game. But I know none of the DEVS will read this so what the point.

The game isn't fun anymore with this SBMM. I would like to play casual games just to chill. I don't play as much as I used to, been in the game from season 1. Now I just want to play couple of hours per week to relax, but I get matched against predators (despite that I'm just an average dia). Also my skill is not what it used to be - there's a difference if someone plays couple hours per day or per week, the MM does not take that into account. Another point, I can't play with my friend who is a lot weaker, we lose 100% each game. It's broken in this state. I thought Ranked games are for skill based sweaty play?!

So, it's a thread to share some player experience and thoughts about skill-based matchmaking.
Well, I don't like the SBMM. I LOVE it. I hope the EA and Respawn would let it be as it is. It's great.
See, I'm playing APEX almost from the day one. I've played solo, I've played with friends. It was a first season, no SBMM, no ranked - only the random lobby. And despite I liked the game design, characters, fast pace and titanfall feel of the game (I liked it all so much, I almost immediately paid for a starter pack) the main gaming experience felt like a pure piece of sh#t for me. Very rarely I've had a satisfying game session. I don't even talk about winning the game - I talk about having fun and give a good fight. Almost every game had this point then I've got killed in a couple of seconds by some "above average"(c) player who doesn't miss a single bullet and can absorb a seemingly infinite amount of damage. The learning curve of the game was broken, if not non-existent - what exactly can you learn from being killed in a couple of seconds game after game? I uninstalled the game right after I realized, that I have much more frustration than fun every single game session.
I came back in the second season after the ranked system was implemented. And it was almost good. Much better than before - I still met some "above average"(c) players now and then (I have no slightest idea what they forgot in bronze\silver\lower gold tiers) but I started to have some good and fun fights, and well-earned wins and top places. And I even purchased a battle pass. But - it was ranked. It had the leavers penalty, toxicity, and needed devotion like a catholic marriage. It was nothing like casual gaming for after-work chill. So, after some highly unsuccessful attempts to play in the main "casual" lobby I've uninstalled the game again.
And now it's the third season. I came to the game after I heard about SBMM. And what I can tell? It seems I'm here to stay. I have a great, yet undemanding game evenings. I actually started to have some fun. I like to play with other players of my skill level, I like that I can actually use some tactics without being instantly killed by some diamond-predator-"above average(c)" piece of sh#t. [ yes, I know - it sounds toxic and too personal - but It was a game state once - those people just happened to you like in "sh#t happens" ] I can only thank Respawn and EA and tell them to leave the SBMM system as it is.
