I am disappointed that I can not participate in the halloween event because I am not comfortable with spending a lot of money on the game. Currently the only way I can get the heirloom for Lifeline is through this event (I could be wrong about this.) but in order to get all of the items for the heirloom I have to spend 700 apex coins per halloween pack. The normal apex pack is only 100 apex coins, this is a 600% increase in the price. The apex packs in normal matches can be earned from the battle pass and from challenges. But the event packs can only be obtained via apex coins. Sadly I will not be able to obtain any of these really cool items, maybe in the future the devs will implement a battle pass, or a ladder system for achieving things for the event.
What are your thoughts on the event?
Do you feel that it is expensive?
Do you have any ideas on how this could be improved for the future?
I make roughly $1400 a month not including bills, and luxuries.
I want to know what other people are thinking about the event, please do not be hostile towards anybody otherwise the thread will be taken down, this is strictly for exchanging thoughts, ideas, and teaching.

Hehe no worries, Im not frustrated at all. I usually just bring up the phone and partake in discussions while Im at the toilet to pass time=)
And I, like most of us, have of course no real insight in Apex reasoning for the pricing of cosmetics. I just base my point of view on basic market principles, which is a little bit complicated since we are talking about a market of a non-rival, excludable good (the number of consumers doesn't decrease the supply but you have to pay for it).
But my main point is that demand of a good corresponds to how high they can price it, right? And who knows; maybe Respawn did overprice it terribly. Maybe their pricing doesnt correspond at all to the willingness to pay, thus they lose money. But who am I to say that? Apex sits on all the information and statistics of their sales. We can only speculate and frankly, I think its rather arrogant and clueless when people claim they know what the correct pricing is. Based on what? Their gut feeling?
All I see is people who argument basically is (if you simplify): "The price for something that I really, really want is too high for ME, one single customer of the entire market, to pay. This means that Respawn priced it to high for everyone on the market"
Cant they see how contradictory it is? The reason for this entire discussion is based on how high in demand cosmetics is for many people, so ofc the price will be high. Imao, its just childish to try to make Respawn the bad guys, and its even more childish to do the whole "Lower the prices or I UNINSTALL"-routine =)

I think its the fact the devs call us freeloaders then come out with over priced skins on a battle royale THAT ISNT EVEN 3RD PERSON SO WE CANT EVEN SEE OUR SKINS TO BEGIN WITH.
Combine that with
A terrible halloween event
Cant earn packs by playing
Crafting material is too hard to get
Updates take too long
Lingering issues that are still around like footsteps being silent
Still cant balance weapons or make legends better compared to other OP legends
"But its a free game" isnt an excuse. If you want your game to not die, fix the issues. WE are your boss. We dont listen to you. You listen to us or you dont get a paycheck and your game dies

@Koochi-Q I appreciate the response, and the views you brought up. The reason I brought up the xbox 1 is to compare the price gouge that I'm facing. Why would I want to purchase a few skins when I could buy an entire console for that price? Knowing something like that will refrain me from purchasing the skins. Keep in mind that I do understanding that I do not have to buy the cosmetics, I actually think they look really awesome. That's why I'm so irritated, I want the skins, and most of the other skins in the game you can grind for (like I have been doing.) But these event skins are impossible to get without spending the money.
In this Battle Royale, like most, you're doing the same thing every time. In a game with no campaign, or anything like that, it revolves around skins. I can't enjoy the game like other people because I'm not willing to spend the $150+ to buy these cool skins. If the price was more reasonable say $50-$80 that'd be different, or if there was say another mini battle pass, or challenges that you could do for these event items. I could afford something like that, and would be more willing to do something like that.
A normal apex pack costs 100 apex coins, a special event halloween apex pack costs 700 apex coins. The price difference is incredibly significant and completely outrageous.
I would also like to add that this is strictly my opinion, and I understand that not everybody will agree. I look forward to your reply.

Learn about markets and pricing of a good. Obviously, people are buying at the current pricing. Also, learn about the term "excusable goods" and how pricing works for those. I mean, the reason why you all are crying about it is because you really really want those precious skins but cant get them because of the price. Compare this to the absolute opposite situation; all skins unlocked at no cost at all. Do you think you would have cared so much about skins then?
And do you really think a game will die because some kids cant get the skin they want? Must be a pretty lousy game in itself if cosmetics is what make the player base stay or leave....
I mean I understand the situation is "unfair". Different players have different income depending on where they live, what they do and how old they are. But thats life and the situation for ALL pricing of goods sold to people all over the world

@WastelandSociety
What problem are you pointing out? That a good (in this case skins) is at such demand that the producers can charge a certain price, a price that some wont be willing to pay for said good? Wow, what a unique "problem".
Use your brain for once before opening your so mature mouth please. The only reason why we are having this discussion is because there IS a demand for skins, a demand based on the exclusivity principles of a good.
So if Im the child, and you´re so mature; argue against my arguments about normal market principles instead. Well you cant, unless you say that you have full insight in the economic department of Respawn/EA and thus can prove that they have actually miscalculated the market and therefor priced skins to high.
Your, and your fellow crybabies, argument is "things that I really want are to expensive. Respawn are bad guys because they wont make it affordable for my wallet waah waaah". So who is the baby, baby?
