Badges are a nice addition to the game, but i think there are some improvements that could be made to make them the best that they can be.
1) Tell me when i unlock a new badge. Its cool to have new badges to unlock that can either show off your skill or your experience, but half the time i forget about them and just sit on the badges i already unlocked when i have a new cooler one i could be using. There are other ones like shot caller where you cant really "work" towards them since each win you have a 33% chance of being the jump master. It would be nice to have something show me that i unlocked something cool to add to my banner, so i dont forget about it. I think the best place to do this would be at the end of the game at the results screen where you are shown your exp. It could also be done the moment you unlock them, but that would be intrusive on gameplay. This is also a way to show new players that they can customize there banner, and where they can go to do so. I've seen a lot of lower level players with blank banners whom i assume just dont know how to customize their banner, or they forget after checking and seeing they didn't have anything unlocked to customize it with.
2) Tell me what other players' badges mean. I dont know how hard this would be to implement, but it would be cool if i could hover over someone's badge on their banner and see what the badge was for. Sometimes i forget what a badge means and what to see what it is when their banners appear before the game. I might be more willing to listen to a teammate if i understand that the badge with all of the skulls on it means he's killed a lot of enemies in a single game. Perhaps i want to see what the live die live badge means since i see an unfamiliar badge on a player and i wasn't around for valentines day and i missed out whats going on. Perhaps i see an "Apex [legend]" badge and forget how many wins it is to unlock that certain tier. Yes, you can look at all of these things in the badge menu, but it would be nice to be able to do this on the go, or when you see the champion/your squad.
3) show me my progress on my badges. I know that progress already shows for most badges but there are some cases where you aren't shown the full picture. The first problem is the tiered badges. You only get to see which tier you've unlock and not where you are in progression to the next tier. i understand that the progress is replaced with what tier your on so when you're somewhere between 50 and 100 wins you know how close you are. it might be hard to work in, but simply having the progress there would be nice. If you cant add it in, another solution could be to get rid of the requirements for each tier at the bottom, and instead replace the highlighted number in the description with the requirement for the tier that is currently being shown on the menu. A third solution, and probably simplest solution would be to simply add a true stats page. The trackers work alright, but they dont cover all of the requirements for every badge. for example, wins don't have their own tracker. you have winning kills, wins with full squad, times placed top 3, but no simple wins. The second problem is the badges for doing things on all legends. All you know is how many legends you have completed the requirements for the badge on, but you dont know which legends you've completed it on. For badges like "well-rounded" you can use the tracker to check if you have it, but then you have to check the badge for the requirement, and then check the tracker to see if you've completed it, and thats just an extra step. But not all of them have those trackers. I think a simple solution to this, is to put a checkmark either on the locked icon or in the tooltip when you hover over the badge, to show that you've completed the requirements on that legend.
4) Sort my badges by whats unlocked. Its nice that we are shown what badges are locked and unlocked without hovering over them, but searching through the list of badges for the one that you still need to unlock or that one that you just unlocked can be hard. And this will only get worse as more and more badges are added. simply sorting by what badges are already unlocked makes it easier to choose what to equip and easier to choose what you want to try and go for next. A full on sorting system would be nice, you could sort by things like what you unlocked most recent or maybe by the percent of players that have each badge, but i think simply sorting by default whats locked is enough and i dont know that a full on sorting system would be useful.

100% this. I'm a creature of instant gratification, and nothing makes me smile like a notification popping up that I just earned a meaningless badge for an arbitrary achievement. That's not sarcasm, it's absolutely true. If my pre-made squad gets a win, then when I'm looking at my endgame stats a popup shows those three dog heads are now available to me, it genuinely excites me.
Positive feedback for rewards well earned is crucial to making people feel good about playing your game. Yes, it means nothing. But it's a primal desire that we all have, especially gamers.

So true. I was looking on the internet for this exact thread. This game is amazing. These badges are what makes each game worth going in for, for me anyways. Having played over a week now and the initial excitement/learning aspect for the game is wearing off, I now always go into the game thinking i'm making progress towards the next badge. I've not had this feeling in a game since the good old days of call of duty mw2 where I'd keep playing purely to try get challenges in-game which helps me prestige. These banners are doing this for me but they just need a few tweaks as storm has pointed out e.g. progress bar, track pure wins (you can sort of work out as there is a tiered badge which records wins for each legend, but no progress bar), it should have a "New" indicator to tell you which new ones you've unlocked when viewing your badge in the menus plus it should show what badges you've earned during the game in the end game summary screen. Maybe even give exp bonuses for unlocking them to get more people interested. Should be able to compare badges with other players.
Side note also if any developers read this, the game also definitely needs a function to add friends easier on PC anyway there is no add friend button, you need to remember your team-mates origin name then type in letter by letter. Should have a recent players played with in the friends section in-game.

Please add progress to badges. There is a big gap between 15 and 50 in Apex Lifeline. At what point I am between these two values ? I can't tell.
