Feature Request.
Fire-to-melee while holstered has gotten me killed - a few times. It seems a lot like Ronin's sword core from Titanfall 2, but there is little downside for accidental melees in a titan. If worst comes to worst, you can just eject or dash out of danger. Apex Legends is a much less forgiving game. The fire button is also the select button in the menus. If you choose to keep "taking damage closes death box menu" on and you try to fire-to-select while in a menu and get shot right before it, you will accidentally melee.
Long rant short, it could be great to have some alternative fire functions while unarmed. Maybe it would be under Apex > Settings > Gameplay.
Unarmed "Fire" could ...
Default: ... melee. (no change)
Quickdraw: ... switch to last weapon equipped.
Nothing: ... do nothing. Maybe play an animation showing empty hands or a hand gun gesture with no cooldown for further actions.
Unintentional melee can easily happen when ambushed and having it happen just once can easily lead to it happening again in the chaos. The melee animation takes time to finish, shakes the player camera violently, and stops the player from doing the actions they meant to do in the first place. I have a dedicated button for melee and prefer to only melee with it. Please consider adding this. Thanks.

@Astropithecus_93Quickdraw instead of melee would be a welcome alternative, but I would be content with the "do nothing" option.
EDIT: Just wanted to add - great job with season 5 story, Respawn. I'm stoked for what is to come.
