People just kill downs to act like they did anything. It needs to go.

Finishing a downed player gives your team big advantage because you have all the time in the world to play it safe against the rest of them... If you can finish a player you should always do that.

Dont think that was the issue though. I think he was referring to people who just runs around and finish off the people that you killed and literally do nothing to help the actual fight and then afterwards, if your team is eliminated, refer to their dmg dealt as a proof that they were good even though 50% of their dmg comes from executing downed enemies they didnt help to down =)
I see this behavior now and then. However; I think the OP is mistaken that its the damage that is the main motive for them to focus downed enemies. I think the loot is so I dont think it will change the situation a lot to make dmg dealt on downed enemy not add to your total dmg dealt. These players will still be spending 10 seconds to execute someone you just downed totally solo instead of helping you as you are fighting the remaining enemy team 1v2 =)

@Balladalidilai think most of those players didnt read the memo that you dont get the kill anymore if that player was downed by an already eliminated team in a 3rd party situation. who cares about that "fistful of dmg" if you arent at the step of upgrading your shield to the next lvl or hit the next dmg-badge barrier. it makes absolutely no sense, doesnt give you any RP or whatsoever. The reason to argue that you made a significant amount of dmg is noob-thinkin (150dmg points max, yea what an accomplishment, lol) ... no serious player does that.
Ok, there is another reason that might be valid ... if you ran out of ammo or shield and need to restack.

@Popa2capsyea im sold on that, i just wanted to elaborate in which situations you might do that to get an advantage for your gameplay. that's what i tell new players everytime when they play with me an try to shoot the downed guy : only do that if you really need to.
Not shooting the 2nd last guy made me not reach a 4K badge tho, still angry with me not doing it ...

Its still a damage isnt it ?

I am going to heartily disagree on almost all points presented here.
If a teammate kills someone who is downed, they don't get the kill credit. However, killing someone who is down is important to the fight. If a downed person is killed, you also get access to the resources they were carrying, including cells, batteries and their shield. This is critical.
Secondly, if someone is a strong front-line fighter and someone can mop up and cover the rear (like a Lifeline who is maintaining the back line), they should get the damage as Evo because they (as mentioned above) are fulfilling a critical function to the fight.
Thirdly, who cares how much damage someone did? If you lost and you decide to get into an argument about how kills or damage done did or didn't win the game, you are playing the wrong game. And if you win and still argue about how someone did "fake damage" or what-have-you, quite frankly you deserve the stress about such a topic because it is so menial to the purpose of the game.
tl;dr Yes, the downed damage should go to the total.

@koulnisFirst, your missing the point of the whole discussion here, its about those players that bring exactly nothing to the table but removing downed players from the board to have ground to argue they did contribute to the action , which they didnt.
Yes there are good reasons to take out an opponent completely after beinig downed.
If you would have read carefully, you would have noticed that the points you made have been already mentioned by others in this discussion for the most part(restacking supplies, evo on shield, evo on badges, ect.).
Thats why the creator of this thread explicitly wrote about "People that just kill downs to act like they did anything".
They are not contributing a critical function to the fight by "boxing" an already downed player.
They are wasting time and ammo not helping their mates taking out the other 2 enemies that are still alive, leaving you vulnerable for a 3rd party situation.
Time is vital in this game.
A downed player is a liability to the other team forcing them to change strategy to rezz him, which can be used to your advantage if he is still crawling.
If he is boxxed, they might run away (which leads to less dmg for the whole team) or pick him up more easily with crypto or a teleporting char like ash/wraith and they are gone ...
And second, do you spot the irony of your statement "who cares how much damage someone did?" by writing "tl;dr Yes, the downed damage should go to the total."
Imho if you reward boxing an opponent, it should be only for the guy that downed and nobody else.

What this discussion really is about is stupid teammates who dont know when you can or cant go for the execute =) But there is no general fix for that I am afraid other than playing with people that you know arent stupid and who you can work on your teamwork with.
My only advice when playing as as solo with randoms is to always think about yourself. Seems to me that you matched with a premade duo EVERY single ranked game now and I am solo climbing through gold now with one account and its actually quite nice if you just kinda assume that your both teammates:
1) suck,
2) will only help each other,
3) wont communicate with you
4) will take all decisions without your input and frankly wont even care what you say
5) will start flame and rage at you if something goes badly, even if you 3x their combined dmg dealt
Ofc I start off the match "neutral" towards them but as soon as they start to show the first signs of being a typical premade duo towards me, I go into solo mode. I wont swear or complain, I just start to mind my own business and "use" them to gain advantages. Passively toxic? Sure why is it assumed that the solo player should be the slave and sacrificial bait for the premade duo? I just wont take that. Problem is that I will only be able to play like this as long as the average skill level of my lobbies is lower than mine but that was kinda the case also in the old ranked system, only that the old solo climb was faster.
