I don’t know if you guys are planning on adding new data centers but the ones you guys have now is garbage. This game has so much potential but the ping is garbage. I live in California and I am getting about 45-65 ping. California has a population of 39.56 million people, the closest data center to California is Oregon with a population of 4.191 million people. I understand that everyone should get good ping and I’m all for that but if Apex is going to be a good competitor to Fortnite (not saying it not already) you guys need to add more data centers in other states. Los Angeles is home to multiple esports teams and is a giant city just in general. All I’m saying is I love this game so much and I would hate to have to stop playing it l because I lag or freeze in the middle of a fight and when it resumes I’m dead. Side note I’m a Bangalore main with 2,868 kills) Respawn please fix this!!!
P.S: To the people who say it’s my internet, it’s not my internet, I have done speed test and I get 335 mbps when no one is really on the WiFi and 245 when multiple people are watching Netflix while I’m gaming.

Try wired, wifi = unstable.
Also, the time you play is important as I have found out.
Sometimes... especially weekends can actually suck to play in a big city.
Just think about your local Internet provider, the number of people can down your latency connection on the weekend
my connection is about 3 or 4 percent slower.
Then comes the server load of the game you play, also weekend can be bad at times...
I check the data center a lot and I have come to the conclusion that even if you are in your own region,
the server ping can still be very erratic/ unstable...
For example the 2 servers in Virginia, server 1 has a higher server load mostly always than the second one.
If optimized it should not happen.
Then there is something I'm a bit unsure about and that is if other "Users" introduce lag...
I mean maybe just maybe your not the problem and you did everything right.
But other high ping players are destabilizing the server??

i mean 45 isnt that much more for an average ping from, say, LA or San Diego to portland (assuming you are as close to or more-so closer to portland than these cities). if you are around southern cali, like SD, or LA, or thereabouts, thats also around 775 to 1000 miles to oregon, so its not just EA. You should be lucky, you have 0% packet loss (all guessing on cities and from resources online to find relative average pings and such) and i think Respawn reworked "source" to split packets or something of that nature, like two packets for a single server ping, so maybe its inflation too from that. this video may help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PfFPW9a90w

to this ill say one thing. download speed doesnt mean anything sometimes. you can have jitter, packet dropping, corrupted packets/information, you can have too many uncorrectable codewords being sent through your network, not being corrected by FEC and therefore requiring a request for the same codewords again. basically, to quote online sources,
"Your modem inspects every packet ... check which codewords are addressed to it. "
""Uncorrectables"- number of codewords so corrupted your modem couldn't correct, had to request the CMTS (like the big green boxes with AT&T or something on street corners) to resend to them. "
"...caused by some kind of electrical impulse noise or RF interference getting into the cable network... "
to finish up, my friend had this problem with his suddenlink modem before (or the CMTS i dont remember) and i think he used his modem's status page to figue it out and contacted suddenlink. id assume you have either fiber or DOCSIS 3.0/3.1

I totally Agree with you. I don't understand why California does not have it's own data center. Think about it, it's not only the opportunity of the population, but it's also the economy. Silicon Valley is here, the highest IT paid jobs, meaning... that it's totally affordable for youngsters in California to purchase (or have their parents to do it) any season pass, or in game currency they want. Also, since the economy is better, more people will have access to internet, and consoles, and gaming pcs. Even E3 happens in California!!. Why in earth would you no pick that location to have it's own server? It could also help people at Nevada and Arizona.

Hey Legends,
The team is looking for your help on improving data centers for Apex Legends. Please provide any information you can that's being requests here.
Thanks ahead of time and for playing Apex Legends. Have a great weekend!
