With season 2 coming out there are a lot of good changes made to the game. And up until now I haven’t had many issues other than the typical poor server quality and horrible sound which we have all come to know and love. But getting into platinum rank I have noticed camping is a huge problem once again mainly because the focus for rp gain is on position rather than kills so people do not want to fight. 5 full squads with zone 4 closing is kind of insane. Not to mention two times we have been third partied by a squad with level ONE SHIELDS that were camping the whole time for the win. You can’t just be lazy and keep the same scoring you came up with and up zone damage because that clearly did not work. Give more rp for kills and damage. Actually just played a match mid suggestion. 4th zone closing NINE SQUADS LEFT. This is pretty ridiculous. Fix this huge issue. Ranked is a joke until these problems are fixed.

@MandatoryIDtagThere's validity to talking about it though. The only way to properly reward anyone in a last man standing mode is - "Well done, you're the last man and everyone else failed. You get a point and they get 0". Since we're not doing that - there's not an automatic, black-and-white, correct system we should use. Everything is up for grabs.
If their current system proves to incentivise players to behave in a way which makes the games no fun : it should be up for review.
I'm assuming that Respawn must have looked at how many people were getting placement points in Elite without causing much (if any) damage or getting kills etc, which is why kills are awarded any RP at all. Similarly though they won't want to create a culture where 10 teams dropping in skulltown every game happens, because good players would know that the odds favour them coming out ahead on a long enough timeline. They might lose multiple games rolling the dice but they know that they only need 1 good game to put them in profit. A lot of people who think they're better than they actually are would follow the crowd and become the fodder, hurling themselves into the fire game after game.
If we applied the hypothetical uncapped kill RP model to the way people have been playing Apex since launch : If a team are coming out with 6-9 kills from their first engagement at Skull, as well as loads of squads being wiped out : then some of them are already going to be in profit RP-wise having only spent 200 seconds in game. For people trying to grind ranked brackets instead of just playing ranked and letting their rank settle organically (I.e almost EVERYONE ) - this would be the best way to go for anyone above average skill.
So there's a tightrope to walk between making sure that good players are awarded larger amounts of RP for playing well and creating the conditions for ranked to be played just as haphazardly as normal Apex is.
Currently - the fact that you can't get 12RP for kills means that players are still RISKING their ranked progression despite being good at fighting. In my experience the games have been better because of this so far. The kind of hiding and avoiding other players I saw in the Elite queue isn't something I've come across so far in ranked. I've not had to endure EVERY single random that we flesh out a squad with pinging and dropping solo in Skulltown either though. If kills were uncapped in ranked I reckon you'd see people playing it in a very similar way to how they play normal apex and thus far for me the ranked games have been way better.
If the guys who are running into people hiding etc can come up with a way of preventing it that doesn't ruin the games in other ways then it's got to be worth hearing them out.

@Anlbrd I'm not knocking anybody playing aggresively, but it isnt the sole goal in this game. I don't think the kills should be capped by any means, but to not reward a player for lasting longer seems counter productive to me.
As stated i do think damage would be a better indicator because theres an obscene amount of kill stealing in apex.
