Competitions for casual players.
I watched the recent Apex Tournament (congrats TSM) and wished that I could play a tournament of that style via easy access to an in-game setting. I understand that people could quit early, but there are people out there that would love to play a casual tournament. Maybe it would be interesting to at least test the idea with one of those events (up to 20 points instead of 50 to reach the 'win zone'), then it could be limited to a short time. The reason why I bring this up is that I can't seem to find tournaments, so I assume Apex hasn't already developed a working tournament that could work for your average player. I would gladly set aside a few hours to play on the weekend or something, and it may be possible to only allow higher level players (Gold and up?) since these seem to be the players who put more effort into their hours of gameplay. Respawn could also think of a way to make players 'eligible' to play (Legend credits???). Spending something of value would help motivate people to stay, too. A smaller map and quicker games/rounds might also do the trick to tempt people to not quit the likely long-winded tournament session - we wouldn't want another Halloween-style situation where people quit after they lose! My guess would be to aim for the teams to play at least 4 games to reach the 'win zone' in points (or it could be 3 depending on what Respawn has data-wise - I personally don't know how long the majority of Apex sessions are for players). Winners could win prizes and maybe if this works out, weekend tournaments and weekday tournaments could be organized in advance for people to prepare themselves for a good old gun-fest. Let me know what you think! Critiquing this idea would help develop into a more convincing option for Respawn
