Double tap to use or Hold to use on Console is just going to make you slow looting items opening bins/doors. This is bad!
I prefer Tap to use/Hold to reload so you can loot fast and hold to reload behind doors.
Weapons automatically reload if you run out of bullets so you don't lose any speed to reload. I'm going to try this option.

No, changing the options in the menu DOES NOT fix the or problem. Even if you change reload to tap and all other actions to hold the game will still prioritize all other actions over reload, thus preventing you to reload.
I mean, rezing a team8(or executing) is ALWAYS a hold button, yet you can't tap to reload when next to a downed team8 (or downed opponent) regardless. So how do you think switching hold to interact is any different, when hold to revive still creates the same problem?

Honestly, it should be to where you have to look at the door or other interactive object/player. Which means actions taken when not looking at a door or down player or even a box, isn't going to get interact with them.
Either that, or give reload priority before other things, unless the button or key is held for some time.
Golden knock down Shields, should follow the first one. To where you have to be looking at the door to interact with it. Sometimes I get knocked on the wrong side of a door.

Other solution :
separate the uses of the square button, so that you can assign them wherever you want. For example:
- square -> reload + loot
- triangle -> Reanimate + change weapon
- additional actions + open doors + take a zip line + open death box
