@Babbediboopi wrote:I guess you are just not competitive. Thats why we need a ranked and unranked mode. I almost find it dishonorable though to play any game and not try to win. If you find it boring maybe BR is not for you. You would enjoy a tdm or ffa more.
This is what I was talking about. You argue that the only valid goal in Battle royal games must be to win and everyone who doenst share this view are wrong and should play something else. A game in which the motives to play is forced upon the player wont last. The incentives to play must come naturally from the mechanics of the game, an as of now, in Apex current state, MANY players prioritize fighting/killing above winning
And btw; you are wrong because I am quite competitive but not for winning. Right now, my 3 main competitive goals in this game is to
1) get the 4k damage-badge (I have the 3k already)
2) Get the 20 kills-badge
3) Get the "kill 3 full squads in the same game"-badge
These are my competitive goal in this game and dont you think its at least a little bit arrogant of you to say that "BR is not for me" implying that I am wrong?
But you didnt answer my main point; I said that a simple solution to ALL these threads is to stop playing with randoms and find some like-minded gaming friends. If you are so competitive, why do you insist to play with randoms? I start to think that the reason you play with randoms is because few people want to play with a guy that only cares about winning. I know that I refuse to play with people on my Discord channel who "want to play safe near the edge of the circle". So boring.
Its the only valid goal in any game or sport on any platform whether in digital or physical realms. If you are not going for the win you are selfishly letting your teammates down who are.
And as has been said before, even players like shroud complain about playing with randoms. Even he doesn't have someone to team 24 hours a day every day. The whole point of finding someone to play with, is to find someone equal to your personal skill level and ranking, for someone who is competitive. That is not easy to do, frankly not practical for most of us to always have someone. A ranked system based on wins or top 3 placements, possibly with an algorithm to team players based on dmg and accuracy would be amazing. And an unranked queue for those who like random skille'd teams or want to hot drop to practice aim or goof off and have fun would be great as well.

Plenty of times I would have saved their banner after winning a 2v1 3v1 and it just leaves a sour taste that they just quit. Once your banner times out and you cant be brought back then you can leave. Needs implementing instantly as not having a team of 3 means this will happen too often.
It's an extremely selfish argument. You have to keep in mind that people only quit when they have zero desire to play with you. Forcing people to play with someone they don't like is ridiculous.
At the same time, there are way better ways to encourage people to stick around than these draconian ban threats. Just give people something to lose. If you drop Skull Town with its trash loot or drop 1st second into the plane flight, who in their right mind would ever wait for a respawn which not only would take an unknown amount of time but is not even guaranteed? Now, if you long drop into some high-tier loot location and spend at least a minute or two looting then people may actually feel like they have something to lose, such as the time they invested, the loot they collected, and potentially even a good chance to win.
From Respawn's POV, what they could do is increase the matchmaking time. This would allow to better match players by skill and make re-queuing less attractive. PUBG has an obligatory 1 minute timer before every game even if the server is filled in full. I used to hate that seemingly pointless countdown but now I see that it does play a very much positive role. Obviously in PUBG there are no respawns, but it still does its job of giving you something to lose. Which also makes the game more exciting as you actually have some fear of death.

I do get what you're saying but this poses a new factor of frustration. Nowadays ppl are already accustomed to the usually fast redeploy times. Let's say Respawn implements a timer before redeployment. Let's take at least 1 minute for example to get a lobby of same skill lvl or same lvl to bunch up. This in theory should and with Respawn's track record in gaming should work. But that added time will/may, like it did you, annoy ppl again.
I don't know with which games it was but I've had several games including Apex where long times before action made me get up and make a sandwich or something 😅. I know other ppl usually also do other stuff if the time's too long. In Titanfall 2 they were quite fast in matchmaking (when it was played by many) so I hope if they utilise load times that they're fast rather than long

LoL bans quitters. Its most popular pc game in NA for many years...
I disagree with changing the game to suit selfish playstyles. Respawn needs to stop doing that. Loot in skulltown is fine as it is.
I do agree they should not be afraid to increase queue time for better matchmaker.

I say they should not be afraid to incrase the queue time for a better matchmaker. But most likely it will not increase that much. For example titanfall 2 doesn't have alot of players. but it has an amazing match maker. I don't wait more then a couple minutes. Not sure why you do? Do you live in asia?
I think alot of adhd players are why this thread exists in the first place. If they quit apex cause they can't wait 2 mins for a queue. Then good riddens game is better off without them.

That's not competitive. That's called * measuring.

I don't know PUBG, but in Apex and Fortnight the majority of the playerbase is dead in < 3 minutes after landing. Looking at *my* playtime, I spend only 30% of my time actually ingame with basically no queue time. That's already too much, if you add another minute wait this is going to be more like 40%. Maybe your playtime are different, obviously they won't extend over however many million players.Just FYI some people do value their time, particularly their precious free time they can spend doing things like video gaming. and are already cheesed off by it. it says something apalling that I had the time to collect the data for this while actually trying to play the game. I didn't even choose any landing locations for those! The game has enough of an issue of afk people doing the start that Apex takes away landing controls if you afk during character select. https://imgur.com/a/qIhwRei
The issue is almost certainly because people want to move onto a new match. They want to get back in the action and keep shooting things. The fix is to gave them what they want. A game mode with different rules that caters to them, instead of trying to force everyone into a one size doesn't fit solution.
At the end of the day, you'll probably find most "sports" and "games" people value sportsmanship and having fun over winning. You're the only person in this thread so angry about it and if that's all you value, I wish happiness to those who have to be around you. They're going to need it.

@RichACWhere do you see that I want a long matchmaker? Again you're trying to guess something and are off by a helluva lot.
I'm saying the opposite, you did not finish reading. Longer queue times should not be a problem. You say you have long qeue times in titanfall 2. I don't! So I asked if you live in asia! lol
If titanfall 2 can have qeue times that only take minutes, then respawn should not worry about long qeueu times for apex legends.
If people can't wait a couple minutes for queue time, then this is an adhd disability that many players seem to have. it is the root of many issues.like hot dropping or suiciding without trying to win. respawn should not cater to them.
Again there should be a ranked and unranked game mode. and only ranked should have match maker and penalties. And people who don't have will power to avoid fights, or the focus, attention span, or patience to actually try and win a match, they can go play in unranked.

how it should work is if you leave a match while both your teammates are still alive and you just got knocked or finished you get penalized. You don't get penalized if you timed out but you will lose some exp. The only time you shouldn't get penalized is if your whole team is gone and you leave. Otherwise, I agree with MonstaBang.
