Totally understand where you're coming from, I play on console too and have experience some audio issues too. There are definitely some audio concerns the team is still working on improving, but we'll do everything we can in the meantime to make the game more enjoyable.
I'm really starting to walk more often now in game because it helps reduce footsteps. Everyone naturally runs everywhere and makes it obvious an enemy is coming at you. Gotta' go sneaky sneaky sometimes! Trust me. With that being said, it's sometimes hard to distinguish between an authentic audio issue with the game, a player naturally being snuck up on, or third party hardware unless we dive into some troubleshooting.
Good luck this weekend!

U cant make a game good if u dont hear people lol. Like i have said this is a BR game Battle Royale games are based on sounds. The whole dino jurassic park is so louuud i cant even hear myself think sometimes and it is driving me crazy. And i play on PC footsteps are not there 60% of the time and those 60% mostly ends with me dying cuz i have a full squad five feet away and i dont hear them. There is too many side sounds in this game if u lower the volume of that people will hear what they need to hear. EA had so many sound issues before and yet they added the flyer sounds the big dino making sounds zone is sooo loud u cant hear people around u combine all that and add legend voices u get a whole lot of useless sounds but dont hear what u need to hear. Its really a pretty simple fix. I am only complaining bcz i am spending a lot of hours on this game and i love it but what will happen when people will have enough of bugs and issues? Even if u love something doesnt mean u will proceed if u dont see any progress. Btw footstep sound is much worse than before the patch it happens every match for me and my friends. Hope yall get the time and the solution to fix it. Fingers crossed ❤️

I don't know why they just don't admit they're at fault and just fix it. They blame us for the mess up even though every player has this issue
Can hear footsteps fine from another building but when they get close it's a coin flip. If it happens to streamers that use very expensive equipment, it's the game. Fix it

Another instance of me trying to get a quick revive in, hear the caustic footsteps, really quiet so I'm thinking he's far away. Nope, I hear a couple steps and he's right behind me
You know the 2nd biggest character in the game? Cant hear footsteps. But I can hear someone revive from 50 meters away. I can hear someone revive in a building while I'm outside. Might as well just throw my headset away

@Hilshire12 wrote:This is a few weeks ago that they changed the priority of footsteps so the appeared above the sounds but I still have never managed to hear enemy footsteps I have a sound system capable of producing Dolby Atmos cinema quality sound at this rate Liberty bettesworths splitting the sound groups so you have done fire friendly and enemy and then ambient sounds which would include all of the environmental sounds and enemy footsteps as I have an enemy chase me through a building earlier not firing and the first thing I knew about them being behind me was really shot at me as this was supposed to be one of the metal buildings their first steps should have been very loud I can understand in woodland and grassy areas the enemy footsteps would be quieter
It sounds like you're telling us you are NOT using headphones like you should.
This is the problem right here. When you playing shooters, headphones are mandatory.

@MassiveVernon wrote:Totally understandable but you’ve got to understand how aggravating it is , this and all the other bugs that I report and get no response to or just told it’s on my end - left me feeling a bit bitter with the game today tbh.
Because you didn't get a response doesn't mean it wasn't listened to or received. When the legendary hunt event launched and they added the ability to make custom button layouts on console, I submitted a bug where my keybinds were messed up. After some more testing in game (I could only test in actual matches and not in training mode) I found out that the game switched back and forth between your custom layout, and default layout when you enter a deathbox loot table menu, as well as when you opened the healing or ordnance wheel.
I made multiple updates and edits to my bug report where I clarified what was happens and how the team at respawn can replicate the problem.
I never got a response to my report on the forums, and there were likely some others who reported it later on. Yet this issue was resolved later. So they EA community manager staff definitely read it, probably replicated the issue themselves, and communicated the issue to respawn and it was fixed pretty quickly.
