This is a few weeks ago that they changed the priority of footsteps so the appeared above the sounds but I still have never managed to hear enemy footsteps I have a sound system capable of producing Dolby Atmos cinema quality sound at this rate Liberty bettesworths splitting the sound groups so you have done fire friendly and enemy and then ambient sounds which would include all of the environmental sounds and enemy footsteps as I have an enemy chase me through a building earlier not firing and the first thing I knew about them being behind me was really shot at me as this was supposed to be one of the metal buildings their first steps should have been very loud I can understand in woodland and grassy areas the enemy footsteps would be quieter

What audio playback device do you have selected once the game is launched? Would you be able to add a DxDiag for us if you're on PC?

What audio setting do you have set under your Xbox One settings and what kind of headset do you use? If it's wired, do you use any sort of volume adapter?

No they’re not going to fix it they’re going to try blame it on your end and say it’s a a device problem or setting etc which it obviously isn’t otherwise thousands of people wouldn’t be saying they’re having issues .
Its so bad it’s ridiculous you can have an entire team less than a few meters away and hear absolutely nothing atall , yet a caustic chucks a gas trap half way across the map and you hear that fine lol.

Do you get the same audio issues without the amp? There is a feature in the Xbox One Settings to change to 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, Bitstream out, or Stereo uncompressed. (100% sure you are aware of this because you mentioned them)
Be sure to check if the controller is updated for compatibility reasons too. Here is how to do that on Xbox One.
keep us updated and thanks for troubleshooting this with us.
I get that it's frustrating to experience, but that does not add any value this discussion. We will let the team know how players in the forums feel how it's impacting their enjoyment of the game and how important an issue is to be looked into, but this is not happening to 100% of the playerbase. We need to troubleshoot by narrowing down and/or rule out any third party hardware that's resulting in technical issues. Some players are willing to take time to troubleshooting and we're here to do that as well.
A great example is how some Aura lighting was triggering the Easy Anti-Cheat program. Not everyone uses lighting services, but once we find out what's causing it we can relay that over to the development teams so they're aware, which ultimately helps find and implement fixes in a shorter period of time.
Another great example is how FPS was suddenly locked for BF3 in a Windows build. This forum user relayed some valuable information to the community so others that stumble across it can find a workaround fix while it's being investigated.

Totally understandable but you’ve got to understand how aggravating it is , this and all the other bugs that I report and get no response to or just told it’s on my end - left me feeling a bit bitter with the game today tbh.
I play on console and every single person I’ve spoken to that plays on console agrees there’s an audio issue with footsteps - and also no one has any issues with other games and their devices.
And the other thing is the problem has got way worse after the launch of season 2. The patch towards the end of season 1 seemed to fix the problem for everyone I spoke to but all the old bugs are back except for the distorted audio - that is literally the only bug that hasn’t returned .
Maybe your right and it’s mostly user error or hardware fault on pc but for console players I’m almost certain it’s on the games end 9/10 times.
Maybe I also shouldn’t comment on a post whilst still raging from the exact problem the topic dictates haha.
