@EA_Blueberry Or the penalty should just not exist? I gave a suggestion a while ago that suggests taking more of the disconnector's RP and giving it to the teammates (or refunding + some points).
Essentially if you left before it starts, your team would get back their entry points, which they already do and they just get slightly more points from the abandonment (or just back their points and the disconnector losses more)
For Bronze, since it's free, no one loses points, even if they leave.
Silver, everyone is given back their points, and the 3rd guy loses 36 - the entry for the squad.
Gold is I believe 24 entry, so that would be a loss of 72.
Etc.
See, the cost in points isn't steep, but it does punish levers. People who stayed get back their entry RP like they do, and those who leave pays for everyone's entry for that squad. For instances where the player is at the threshold where it would drop them into the last rank, either demote them or put their points in the "negative" where they need to earn more points to move up.
The point is that by preventing players from playing, all you're (Respawn) doing is making people annoyed and most likely quitting. Honestly, it's annoying when people leave, and I haven't seen very many leave; however I have been in games where my teammates were complete and utter 1-2-3's and I couldn't leave because before I timed out they got my banner and ran around.
The penalty prevents people from leaving, sure.. but it doesn't prevent people from looting and doing literally anything but respawning you when they have the chance. Most of my games ended with the other two teammates running around and looting and then they get ambushed by two teams.
Rank uses RP as an entry token, so it would make sense to use that to punish people who leave. I only left one rank game on purpose and that was because I had an emergency occur and either I leave and deal with the penalty, or I afk and deal with the penalty. Either way it wasn't convenient waiting to play again because something out of my control stopped me from finishing the round.
