tl;dr - Add a microphone playback option so we can adjust mic/audio settings properly.
Apex Legends is a great game, one of the few games I personally believe that EA didn't completely f*** up. I've been playing since the initial release of the game. Absolutely no complaints besides the occasional hacker.
As per the update a week ago (Apex Elite update), my microphone is no longer responsive in game. I've tried every possible configuration, yet players still cannot hear me in-game. I am CompTIA A+ certified, so rest assured, I tried every method of troubleshooting, forwards and back with no success. I can hear myself in NVIDIA screen captures, in the control panel settings (WIN10), and every other game.
SO HERE IS WHAT I PROPOSE:
It's so simple, a baby could write the code for it.
Add a playback button in the audio settings so we can test our microphones quality and adjust accordingly.
Having to adjust audio settings without hearing the adjustments is a difficult task, which may take games upon games before finding the sweet spot.

The only times in recent games such as Siege and Apex where I've had issues with my mic not working in-game I've 'fixed' it by changing app permissions in Windows Settings / Privacy / Microphone. Since the recent Windows 1903 Feature Update I can now see a mic symbol in the Notification Area, and when I hover the cursor over the icon it says "Apex Legends is using your microphone" which is a privacy notification I believe. There's an outside chance this could be your issue but I thought I would share it anyway as I remember it helped players in Siege after a patch when mics stopped working.
