I've lost countless times because of accidentally hitting R3 button and my character just stops shooting and starts punching/crouching. It's just so frustrating! And I'm definitely not the only one who is having it! How hard is it to add a disable option! It's literally 2 line in the programming code! The R3 button is basically meaningless since you can holster your weapons and use the melee attack by pressing the firing button or they can simply add a code to disable melee attack when firing and if you want to use it during a fight then all what you need to do is to take your fingers off the firing trigger. Apex has more than 60 million players around the world, that means even if only 1% of its population having this problem 600,000 are having this issue. If you don't have this problem then please ignore this post and do not comment with your magic solutions such as "Stop holding the controller so tight". You can keep such solutions to yourself.

@BloodxHunterXVI believe the issue is with the ps4 controller’s design tbh because I used to throw out punches all the time when I picked up a havoc and got angry when people would say I was putting too much pressure on the button because I knew I wasn’t and eventually the controllers joysticks quit working correctly so I switched over to a xbox one controller I had laying around collecting dust and I have never had the issue of throwing out punches since I switched (I didn’t have a genuine PS4 controller though it was a knockoff Logitech from Walmart)
I understand you are on console so making the switch isn’t possible but that was my solution for the issue on pc, Ive heard players say that they swapped the crouch and melee buttons so whenever they usually would accidentally throw out a punch there character would crouch instead and it would help them in gun fights whenever it did happen, it might not be the most ideal solution but you could try that and see how you like it but it may take awhile to get used to it I recently changed my controller layout on Fortnite and it was well worth the switch and only took me a few hours to memorize the new buttons
