I was messing around with settings on fortnite and started using a setting called visual sound effects or something that basically just shows a little footstep icon when somebody is close or a direction of which gunshots are coming from, I don’t really have footsteps issues on apex myself but alot of players are always complaining about footstep issues and this would be a very useful setting especially if somebody had hearing problems

I'm deaf in one ear, It's hard to determine where the shootings and footsteps are coming from. I really hope they add this like the other games.

@FaIIenAngeI777 yep fortnite have the visual sound thing well sorted out. I can play it with the sound off.
No so apex. There are 3d visual indicators of incoming damage, but it always seems a little too late for me.
I can't use headphones due to it exacsbating my tinnitus, and am half deaf in one ear. So it's the TV sound bar and sub woofer for me.
So it's about making the best of it for me.
Recently I've been told about the DTS sound setting on xbox, and that seems to open up the stereo field somewhat and make it easier to get a bit more of directional sound, esp footsteps.
There is a way to specifically improve footstep sounds on pc, outlined in the below thread:

@NickBeam27 yes it would be a great feature, but meanwhile have you tried the suggestions in the thread?

Apex Mobile already has this function well implemented, that I can even play it with the sound off as well.
Whoever the dev team is for Mobile, I know you can't just switch or anything, but we'd love it if y'all work on the main game.

I don't know if this will help you as I am not familier with ps5 of 4 but:
There's a suggestion of being able to adjust your eq on the ps5 here
https://www.playstation.com/en-ie/support/hardware/ps5-change-audio-output/#eq
They suggest
Also there's a bass boat, but yt found turning bass down on pc helped allow other sounds through.
I would look at the apex eq settings on the sonic software, as a starting point to help fine tune the ps5 eq. The other thread might be helpful to read.
Another alternative is to process the ps5 sound through a laptop, but I having got that far on the xbox yet.
DTS, that helped me on my xbox, is also an option on the ps5, but I cannot find out where or how yet.
Maby you can try these suggestions and let me know how it goes.
