I've said this two times in two different threads and I'm confident that it would be a much better system than the banning/timeout that's been happening because the servers, teammates, whatever made players feel like they need to leave or they just got force disconnected.
~ Regardless ~ This idea is more ideal.
Get rid of the current system. Don't ban people because they want to disconnect and get back into the fight. Instead actually deduct their RP because it makes more sense.
Bronze is free to enter, so no one really should be losing points or getting "penalized".
Silver I believe costs 12 to enter, Gold 24, Plat is like 50 I think... so on, so forth.
My *idea* is making the leaver pay the other two teammates in RP; in a way.
Let's say Wraith, Bangalore, and Lifeline gets into a ranked; gold level match. Each are paying 24 RP to enter. Bangalore leaves for whatever reason or was disconnected. Her teammates are refunded RP as loss forgiveness; for as long as they don't leave before squad wipe. The current system allows Wraith and Lifeline to earn RP; but if they lose, they don't lose any RP. If Wraith earned 12 RP during the match, she's refunded 12 for the rest of the entry, and same with Lifeline.
Being refunded because your teammate left makes sense... what about them? They get smacked with a ban for 5 minutes or longer, based on how many times they left a ranked match.
What if...
Instead of restricting Bangalore's ability to play, you just tax her the entry for the other two. Regardless if they made up their losses.
What this means is that instead of losing 24 RP, she would lose 24 x 3. Which is 72 RP. As she gets to higher ranks, this number would go up.
From silver, she would be giving up 36
From gold, 72
etc.
It makes much more sense to deduct the points the player is trying to earn than it is to kill off the game by banning people.
If the player keeps leaving ranked, their could be more of a loss (so instead of 72, it could be like 90 or something). If the player reaches the threshold where they would technically be demoted to a lower rank and they leave again, a good penalty would to actually demote them down the amount of points. AKA, if they are at 200 RP, and 180 RP is the rank down, and they lost 40 RP, they would be at 160 RP.
If people want to become an Apex Preator, they would decide on their own to quit leaving to avoid point loss. While it's annoying that people leave and makes the game harder; I personally would much rather have the player loose more points than to be smacked upside the face with a temp or permanent "ban".
This idea may not exactly prevent people from leaving, but the thing is; people still are. That's why we're here on the fourms reading a thread about a much better solution.
While I'm here, I'm also going to say that if a second player leaves the team, they pay for their entry and the entry of the other teammate. Not for the third guy since they choose to leave first and haven't been contributing to the team.
If the third guy leaves, they only pay for their loss RP, which would be the same if they just killed themselves with a grenade.
Another thing that would be a good idea that's exclusive to this thread; is to remove or reduce the points earned from the leaver's RP. In other words if you left after getting 5 kills you only get RP for about 2-3 of them, or none at all. Could be based on how many times you left the game. This idea is to help encourage teamwork and wanting to stay. But you know, you can still leave without any real issues.
While there is another issue; People not respawning you and they loot instead or something. The game needs to determine if the player could get you, such as where the ring is and whatnot and then encourage them to help you. If they continue to loot or run off, something like maybe a distance limit or they slowly lose HP like they're in the ring could help encourage them to try and rescue you. I don't really know. Something to make sure players are helping their teammates. The only exception is if all the respawn beacons are outside the ring. Which to be honest, in this case the banners should just timeout since even IF you get them; you can't save them.
