You can use any weapon for any Legend. How effective they are depends on how well you use them.

That would be true if caustic and gibby wouldn't be so at disadvantage in shotguns duels. Unless fighting a noxed opponents/smarter bubble use..

But yeah bloodhound is versatile enouth to use all kinds of weapon, despite his ult is her only fighting ability.

You probably can't get a more perfect rule of thumb than this. There are certainly character-related factors that can affect your decision though. It's not just about mastering the guns but identifying which abilities can used to make a more ideal situation.

Bloodhounds ultimate is fantastic for close quarters. Mobility means you can exploit your corners more efficiently, as well as close the gap with opponents who prefer to fight you at a farther range. An EVA-8, Peacekeeper or most automatic weapons can make you into a mean entry-fragger if you choose to play this way. You're also more likely to turn Bangalore's smoke against her own team this way too.

I believe optics can allow Bloodhound to see recent traces of enemies at a longer range too but IMO there are so many alternative ways to locate enemies that the buff that you receive from equipping a scope is negligible. Equip scopes if you have a weapon that's suitable for it. Do gather information but don't rely on tiny little extra nuggets of knowledge to win a fight for you. The smaller the ring gets the more you'll be able to follow enemies naturally (deathboxes, open doors, distant gunfire, next ring location etc).

There are no wrong answers unless you're purposely passing up the opportunity to exchange your low tier weapons. But I do think it can be a waste to use his/her/its ultimate if you're at a distance, know where the enemies are already and you're planning to fight stationary. But your Kraber will hit just as hard as anyone else's.

The differences between each character are fairly weak compared to a lot of other class-based shooters. If someone tells you that a Caustic has no business carrying a sniper rifle, balls to them.
