apex legends leave game penalty

I played a ranked game as jump master, whereby one of the players launched early and the other player followed. I released on the other side of the map eventually ran into another squad and was downed and then fried by the ring.  Given the other two players were on the other side of the map and there was no hope of a revive I left the game. I was Penalized 48 points for leaving a game where the squad had already abandoned me which is a penalty in itself.

This is crazy. Can we go back to the Season 1 system which seemed fairer for an abandoned player.
