Without classes this isn't Battlefield

★★★★★ Apprentice

I don't care who comes in here to defend it. Based on the HUD in the trailer every last specialist can run rockets. This is a deal breaker because that means that classes have been reduced to a single perk and a gimmicky gadget. That's not Battlefield.

There was too little in the trailer to positively determine that that is indeed the case, I would hope that this is because it is just pre alpha.

I would hope the second gadget slot is 'class limited' but if it is a free for all like primary weapons, I fear the worst......

@Natetendo83 in my opinion every class should be able to run rockets in the fact that vehicles are to over power such has tanks. BFV tanks were just to overpower for squads with no one packing heat.

@DiceUprise Doom49 commented on the number of tanks and other armored vehicles saying "it's gonna suck for infantry".
As a guy that loves playing infantry vs. armor, I thought the same thing.
From what I saw, the helicopters have the self repair and infinite ammunition, as do the tanks and LAVs. So like BF4, theres going to be "elite pilots" pot shotting infantry a cross the map before dipping behind cover.
Hopefully DICE balances the ability of infantry to take out vehicles vs. vehicles ability to self repair quickly.

@Natetendo83 Did BF2 have class or specialist? It had no swapable gadgets.

From what I saw of the Hud
It looks like 5 slots. Primary weapon, Secondary weapon, Specialist Gear and 2 Gadgets slot(I only saw 3 different gadgets here)
I saw nothing to indicate grenades or melee.

I've started playing BF4 again (the last good BF) and the amount of rockets there can get out of hand, to the point of why even bothering getting in a tank.  Hopefully things are managed properly in 2042

@P1asma I started playing BF4 again too and I feel like it isn't that bad. A good tanker with a good top gunner is something infantry should fear, but isn't entirely impossible to counter.
I am worried about BF 2042. My brother was a BF2 attack heli expert who had mastered the circle strafe of death. He had more 100-2 games that cleared a server than I can remember. Things like that aren't balanced.

I thought the cat & mouse game between armor and RPG equipped engineers in BF4 was perfect. I played both sides of the game more than anything. I'm afraid all classes running RPG's would be too much and the only way to balance it would be to nerf RPGs which would be a huge discouragement for equipping RPGs which in turn would lead to nobody equipping them which would in turn lead to tanks being OP.

@RancidX I have similar concerns but the chances of 'everyone' using rockets in reality is pretty slim.

We will have to wait to play the game and see how people set their load outs.

I would hate for changes to be made now with no evidence other than a 'gut feel' for it to cause unexpected issues further down the line.

@Natetendo83 The trailer is just a render.
In fact, the game will be by class. And each class will have its own unique skill.
