Why does diamond 4 always pair with 2 plat 4s?

It is impossible to carry 2 plats at the same time, are we only supposed to make parties? This is ridiculous

Pretty much. If there aren't enough similarly ranked players to pit you with and against, the matchmaker will just cobble together 60 people and hock 'em into a match.
