Why am I getting forced to install EA App?

This did work for me for a while, but as of this afternoon, it appears EA has found a way to circumvent this solution. 

I am really annoyed, like most people here. We pay hundreds of dollars and they force a crap launcher onto us that refuses to update my games. Thanks a lot EA.

Same. Editing the local file worked for a few weeks for me, but now I'm back to the EA pop-up. It's incredibly frustrating since I've been building a world and Create a World doesn't work with the EA app. EAHelp on Twitter seems to reply to everyone, but I haven't seen much from them about The Sims 3 problems.

I used this fix a few weeks ago and it worked great! Then with today's (3/14/23) update this fix does not work no matter what I do. I hate that they're gonna make me switch to the broken EA app regardless. I just wanted to play with the infants man...

I’m also getting forced to use the EA app instead of Origins and I’m unable to launch Red Alert 2 (which I’ve paid for) on the new EA app that I worked on for hours to get to run great through Origins on my Steam Deck.

I tried the above steps but I’m unable to get this to work on my steam deck. Im running Origins through Lutris and I’m able to find the above files but when I follow the steps, I still get the prompt to download the new crappy app. 

I’ve been opening the .xml file using KWrite and going down to the bottom and inputting the text exactly like it is typed and saved. I’m not seeing the show hidden files in this program but I have hidden files showing in all my folders and documents.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue because of an origin update. I had the xml change route working, but it no longer does after the update. From looking into the previous fix and the xml file when launching, it seems like origin is either resetting the xml file, or more likely completely replacing it with a new unaltered xml file (since the file shows no previous versions once origin has been opened).

even completly removed all permissions from xml file after editing dosnt help - ea crapp banner wants kill origin((

setting the xml to read-only keeps the workaround there but origin still forces the migration so their patch is elsewhere now.

Hey, this no longer works after the Growing Together update of Origin - the entire line is typed in and stays there, but the EA app installation whatever still shows up.

@Weeronaa I understand nothing but if I look at the settings, would it mean that we have to redownload Origin?
