What's the role of Origin Client Service?

★★★ Newbie

After Installing Origin, two services are created.

One is Origin Client Service, and the other is Origin Web Helper Service.

Both have no description in Service template.

And even if I disable them, Origin works fine.

Is there anyone who knows the reason why they are needed, and when they are used?

Hi,

Here's more info:

  • The Origin Client Service is Origin's main service and what runs the program on your system.
  • The Origin Helper Service is used by Origin for low priority tasks, including checking if your system is idle in case Origin is ready to download and install new updates - see here for more info. It sync the Origin client with the Origin website.

While recommended to be turned on, the Origin Helper Service can be turned off. The Origin Client service should be running on your system to make sure Origin works properly.

Hope that helps!
