What did this game actually do right? What would you want to continue with?

I like the remade portal maps, those are cool.

I actually like the plus system and the new soldier skins.

exposure and stranded are cool maps. I like that they’re attempting to fix this game vs dumping it.

what do you like?

Hi @WedgeTornado ,

Here is a list of what I am missing from this "BF" hero shooter game:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Played-100-hours-now-The-honeymoon-is-over-Going-from-s...

And only very very few things actually in the BF2042 game pack which I would consider good:

- The Portal functionality.

It's not really well or fully developed in the BF2042 game of what it ought to be/should have been, but the philosophy is right:  Giving the end-users the power to fully design their BF server as they would like themselves, including access to all maps library, all weapons and vehicles to include or not. Allow choice between all game modes, various game mechanics and rules applied by it.  And then having that available as community run servers with a select crew of community admins.

- Large geographic maps and 128+ players.

If otherwise EA/DICE would spend the money to rent fully capable servers, then I do not see why we should not have these larger sized maps and also with 128 players or more on them in the same game.  But yes, several other things needs then also to be fixed before this will work well for enjoyable gameplay.  E.g. the map designs and contents are critical factors and requires substantial work to get it right.

But this is mainly it.   There is nothing in current BF2042 that otherwise comes to mind of being great new added things to Battlefield.  On the contrary, its missing out on almost all other aspects I consider absolute must-haves for me to consider it Battlefield and like it.

Call me nostalgic, old legacy fanboy or whatever.

But give me a refreshed version of BF3/BFBC2/BF4 and I would be happy!

@CyberDyme  Exactly. I am sure that most of the players who watched the BF2042 Teaser were counting on a deep remaster of BF4 and 3 in terms of graphics and setting. I suppose that this DICE series will no longer be redone, everyone will be content with the Portal mode.
In the Portal, I want to ask from myself that they give me the opportunity to set up transport, in quantity and in blocks of separation.

For me, the plus system. That's it...everything else is lack luster or a step backwards.

I don't really see what all the fuss is when it comes to the plus system - On console, it just adds extra headache when using custom controls; Just going into the main menu for a hotswap is enough for me.

I really like the Portal maps and weapons and hope they double down going forward

I can see that...on PC I map it to a button, press and hold and then select whatever you want. It's simple, but I can see it being a problem for console with the limited number of buttons. Also, I was trying to be positive Standard smile

Can't even think of something that is really "better" than previously. In my opionion the future game should be build on the BF1/BFV platform (atmosphere, graphics/visuals, physics) with the setting of BF3/BF4 (modern, realistic/believable).

A few things are okay, but need a rework in my opinion:

  • Plus-System, reduce the attachements and implement a real punishment for changing them, change of ammo types mid-fight shouldnt be possible
  • "Gunsmith", good idea bad implementation, not every gun needs an extended magazine, attachements / builds should really differ in the gun behavior

Apart from that, everything is worse than previously:

  • Mapdesign is a huge downgrade compared to B3/4/1/V
  • Physics are a huge downgrade to BFV
  • Heroes are just bad and don't belong into a BF
  • Customization is worse than in BFV
  • Gunplay / Vehicleplay and variety is worse than in BFV/1/4/3

Greetings!

everything they get right they decide to change and break.  the broken stuff doesn't get fixed.

Hero
@WedgeTornado I too like the Plus system (even with it being slightly a tiny bit trickier on console) and I really like the two newest maps.

The call in system is alright as well, even though I usually forget about it in the heat of battle.

Plus system. I like that I can switch between different scope zooms depending on the situation without having to wait until I die.

The animated green marker highlighting my position on the main map. That's a brilliant addition but I bet it will be gone when the next game comes out.

The 4x4's are fun to drive.

Having access to more powerful weaponry as a passenger in a tank, Wildcat etc. Certainly makes it more interesting than just having the normal pea shooter MG.

Pro tip when playing in a match with bots. Pick up the bots and use 60mm Mortar for seat 3. The AI will get you lots of infantry kills with their bot aiming!

On the flip side, it makes vehicle balancing impossible when one vehicle has passengers and one doesn't.

NTW-50 has never been this much fun to use.

I know it's not popular but I do like the specialist traits when playing as infantry but I hope the next battlefield returns to the strict class restrictions of V. So fixed gadgets and weapons per class.

The least 3D spotting since BF2142, I think which rewards flanking or just simply hiding but the auto spot within close range by enemies using ADS should go.

Tornadoes and all round weather and environmental effects are the best so far in the franchise. Give me a massive wildfire that inflicts damage to the environment and the player in the next game!

Stranded Conquest map. A true classic battlefield map that I've already clocked up 20 hours on due to the 24/7 mode.
