What are origin points used for ? 

Some friend told me that they can be used to get discounts for games.

@HandsomeCozmo At the moment Origin Points is just for stats. You can't spend them to buy games or get discounts.

Would love to see them used in some way. They should allow us to use them for in game cosmetic DLC or discounts on purchases, like Ubisoft does.

They don't actually do anything, unfortunately. There also doesn't appear to be anything in the works to make them useful.

It provides a metric for EA's failure to add value for installing the abomination that is Origin. How else would you know?
