Weapon and Star Card Loadouts -- Summer 2020

★★ Guide

Given the recent influx of new players, I figured now would be a good time to talk about Weapon and Star Card loadouts, and see what setups people are rolling with. The last time I started this discussion (on the old forums), some people offered insights as to certain Star Cards not working as described. I know there also used to be a thread detailing the various inconsistencies with the various Hero Star Cards. Unfortunately, those threads are gone now, so hopefully we can rebuild the knowledge base.

I don't really play much HvV, so I can't offer much in terms of Hero builds, but I will happily start things off with my setup for Co-Op/Galactic Assault:

Assault: E-11D with Reduced Recoil and Improved Range; Survivalist, Improved Thermal Detonator, Toughen Up
Heavy: FWMB-10K with Auto Cooling and Night Vision; Survivalist, Improved Impact Grenade, Barrage
Officer: DL-18 with Improved Cooling and Reduced Spread; Survivalist, Improved Blaster Turret, Recharge Command
Specialist: A280-CFE with Dual Zoom and Burst Mode; Stealth, Expert Weapons Handling, Survivalist

Enforcer: Survivalist, Enforcer Training, Battle Hardened
Aerial: Aerial Training, Survivalist, Battle Hardened
Infiltrator: Desperation, Evasion, Stalker

Your mileage may vary, but the above setups are what work best for me and my individual playstyle. I try to stay fairly mobile, regardless of which class I use, and try to keep my encounters around medium distance.

@DrunkyMacGreed I managed to save the thread by the most high venerable reverend RogueZeroRendar about hero cards not working as described. My personal loadouts for classes is mostly situational.
Assault usually stays as Toughen Up, Bounty Hunter and Improved Thermal Detonator.
Heavy varies depending on what I am up against: normally I’d have Supercharged sentry, Defender and Ion Turret or Shield, but if there’s an annoying AAT or ATST I whip out my Ion missile, Ion turret and Supercharged Sentry. For full explosives barrage supercharged sentry and detonite charge.
Officer has a few options. To support your team improved battle command, improved flash grenade and either the advanced turret or the squad shield. But if I want to get battlepoints fast, Officers Presence, Bounty hunter and Recharge Command is super easy to get battle points quickly.
Specialist for me usually uses Hardened Infiltration and Stealth, and switches out personal shield and trip mine. But this can change sometimes.
Hope this helps any new players!

As a specialist I use the NT-242 with improved cooling and duel zoom at long range maps, and A20CFE at medium range maps. (My computer is updating so I can’t really find my loadout, will update when it is done). I use Scramble infiltration, Shield, and Resourceful.

Loadouts will always vary based on playstyle, skill, and of course preference, but that was a good list. Some things to add however:
Assault training is a must if you want to be killing machine. 40 health on kill may not sound like enough, but if you are running around engaging multiple people one after the other, it will save your life.
FWMB-10k is a solid pick, but I would say T-21 is better. Longer range, high burst damage, and generally more consistent. I would say that this one is up to personal preference, most of the heavy weapons are pretty viable.
SE-44C is definitely better for more aggressive playstyles or to spray and pray, but DL-18 is better at ranges if you are precise.
CFE is really good all around and excellent up close, but I think NT has more potential if you can land headshots. I've seen what good players can do with that thing and it is insane. The hipfire is more precise than you would think, and the recoil can be managed after some practice.
Great list though, and great thread.

I run survivalist, stealth and the bubble shield for my specialist most of the time. I might say that survivalist is sometimes better than toughen up for assault but it it sorta situational.

Assault: Toughen Up, improved set and assault training (just switched); weapon depends, but usually EL-16HFE with stock and range mods.
All-round combat with a tinge of survivability

Heavy: expert weapons handling, improved combat shield Barrage, Detonite (just switched) and supercharged sentry; weapon also depends but usually TL-50 with cooling and reduced spread (haven’t unlocked the secondary fire, is it good here compared to Iden’s?).

Maximum damage short and long-range.

Officer: Disruption, Blast Command, Bounty Hunter; weapon SE-44C with Improved cooling and rapid fire.

Fast point gain with disruptor cheese lol

Specialist: Shield, marksman and improved shock; weapon A280-CFE with zoom and cooling.
I’m still trying to get to grips with this class, but I do play aggressively using CFE burst and pop shield when I’m low.

Tl50 secondary Fire is horrible compared to iden’s(Advice from a person whom mains her) I am not the biggest fans of the combat shield bois, would recommend detonate charge barrage and resourceful or bounty hunter

Thanks for the tips. I did use barrage once, but swapped it out for a card which I don’t remember now.

Honestly I’m trying to decide between expert handling or barrage. Faster primary cool states are very useful, but would I benefit more from barrage?

probably barrage,I found it getting lots of damage in chokepoints, but not kills. It is useful for scattering the enemy and making them get into cover for regen while you and you team(Hopefully) push up.

I just had the "Defeat 3 Enemies With Barrage" Timed Challenge yesterday, so I can absolutely agree that it is a killer when the targets are bunched up, but against individual targets, you will want to have weakened them a bit first. I use it mainly because I found myself rarely (if ever) using the Combat Shield, so I wanted to have another option for causing damage instead.
