Tidal Wave issue

I've been trying to upgrade Horace Grant from a 91 to a 97 or 98 but he doesn't appear in my items. I finally got Nelson to appear but I want Grant and I can't get him out of my surge lineup and I don't even know who I can replace him with. I bought two different power forwards and tried to replace him with Tatum but Tatum is on my bench so I can't. I'm not a new player but I'm new to the multiple lineups and I don't know who I can put in this lineup.

@DAssassin98 Hey there! Only certain players can play in the storm and surge lineups. Your regular line-up players will not work in the promo line-up. Does this make sense?

@CarterZ198 Yeah, it was explained to me thank you. Just relearning this game with all the changes is so weird. Appreciate the help though but how do you know beforehand who you can use and who you can't so I can save money when buying backup players for upgrades
