I'm not saying I don't like it, but it's pretty bad given what it could be. Most of all, too many games are super boring. The weapons do pacifier, water squirtgun damage, but when you go down, you get more benefit out of leaving a game than waiting for a respawn. If you hot drop, chances are you spend more time loading screens than playing, and if you don't happen to come across someone else in the wilderness or get a bad loot area, you just run around for minutes on end.
A battle royal is the right format. Respawn has a lot going for it. But adding a new character every season and introducing buy stuff all the time events is not going to make the game better.
