Spore is about to celebrate it's 10th birthday.
The Sporum will not last to see it.
But, not all is lost. Spore is known for its resilience. You can log out anytime you like, but you can never leave. Even though the Sporum itself is about to face the end, one way or another, the community will endure. Pockets of Spore players will exist wherever they can find each other. The Sporepedia will always have fresh new works of art and sloppy eyesores to look at. The number of players will always increase day by day. Although to many, the end of the Sporum is a saddening affair, we should take solace in something we've always known.
True Sporeans never die.
Yes, it's true, the Sporum is on it's last legs. But the Spore community is not! New Discords have been popping up, 'multiplayer' Spore is a reality, the mods keep coming and there's plenty of MPN to go around. Sure, Spore isn't as prestigious as it was in the glory days of its youth, but it's managed to survive all this time. Ten years. Ten years we have kept this game alive. It's birthday is around the corner. We lament the loss of the Sporum but Spore is about to turn ten years old and nobody's celebrating, even though the game is well and alive.
Well it's time to stop that. For our beloved Spore, let's throw it a party. Let's make some art, and celebrate creativity, celebrate form, and composition, and colour, and technology and futurism and fantasy, and escapism, all of these great things that Spore has taught us about and given us the tools to embrace. For ten years it's been easy to answer the question, "How will you create the universe?" and that's what we did. We made our own species, built our own empires, forged our own ships, and did all of it starting with a blobby little cell. We created our own universe when we made this community. We're too caught up in losing the Sporum to remember why we're sad in the first place. Because we're here, and we're here because we're attached to Spore. We fell in love with it. The editors, the art, the lore, the players. And the story does not end here. It will endure. The memories will be there when it's over. So let's have a birthday party.
Ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your butts, because we're hosting a create-off.
That's right! A fully fledged, tournament-style create-off. There's no telling how far or how big this is going to get at this point, because we don't have numbers. It could be small, it could be massive. It's up to you. The more people we get (and we WILL take everybody we can get) the bigger and better and badder it's going to be. We can't say for sure how long it's gonna be or how we're going to even out the rounds so the numbers work, but we've got themes ready to go. Oh yes, we've got ideas. Oh boy, do we have ideas.
Here's what we know so far.
-Eliminations! Can't have a create-off without a final winner, can you?
-Tournament style! Round by round, we'll see how everybody stacks up against everybody else.
-Variety! Spore has a little bit of everything, so that's what we're gonna make. Creatures, vehicles, buildings, the works!
Now, since the Sporum, is in fact about to circle the drain, there's no telling if it'll last until the end of the create-off. But, Spore lives on. In this case, it's through Discord.

We can celebrate 10 years of Spore but we need people to be there for it. People like you. Once we build enough momentum, this train is gonna keep going. But we need to get it started first. Once it's off the ground, it's gonna fly.
