Regardless, Frazier is hanging onto the prospective revelation of more starfighters as if he’s working out of a secret installation on Scarif, but he did offer this tease in regard to the potential of more ships to pick from after Squadrons launches.

“I can tell you that the eight ships that we’ve shown are the playable ships that we intend to have at launch,” says Frazier. “There are other ships that you’ll see in the story and so on, but as far as playable ships, those are the eight you should expect at launch.”

" For the Rebels, the obvious missing iconic ship is the B-wing, which is technically a destroyer of Star Destroyers, but could also be repurposed as a heavy-fighter or fighter-bomber role that slots between fighter and bomber."
