Here i made a little videos and probably ommited some points that i wanted to make but i am not a content creators per say so i dont really care .. i express reality and not BS narative base of emotional response to nostalgia ..

 

I played ALL BF games ever and ive seen classes come and go and have arbitrary mixed and matchs weapons with no real reasoning that could justified these choices and why the classes were lock into these beside the Recon/snipers and even them there is recon with AR in real life .. that said There as never been a justification for why BFBC2 had LMG for the Medics and then in BF3 they went back to BF2 style medics and so on and on .. Why BFBC 1 had no engineer but a support that was engineer and medic at the same time who had LMG . and a Demolition with rocket and shotgun only ... These arbitrary classes were stupid and worthless they had no justiification . 

 

How does a carbine serve the engineer in BF3 ? How does a AR or an LMG make a medics better at his role ? There is simply ZERO justification for this its pure non sens ... and peoples just want it because they were use to it but what then if you liked LMG and were a Medic in BFBC2 ? You have to become a Support and give amo now in BF3 ? 

 

Peoples were using classes based on weapons 

 

And specialist are classes , they have recon style perks  hacking , spotting , intel , engineers style perks  base on support turrets , walls , assault style perks base on mobility or frontline  and support with armor and loadout crates and ressuply for rockets etc..

@Stew360It was never about weapons benifiting the class they were assigned to , it was about forcing cohesive gameplay, something thats lacking in 2042, flag caps in this game are laughable, motion sensers being lobbed around like confetti but no ammo or meds, al lyou have currently is 128 players trying the same meta and tbh its dull and counter productive.
That in itself isnt even my problem, its the completely broken weapon system that renders AR`s and snipers useless, i mean, how did NOBODY at dice realise such a basic fault?

 

*EDIT* ive had some cracking games on BC rush in portal, what does it tell you when this games legacy is its strongest asset?

I have experience in ALL games on consoles and PC from BF franchise , and i can tell the classes have always changed at randoms and none of those design decision have ever helped with cohesion and teamwork , they were handicaps on many maps or were the go to on others , and peoples most peoples changed classes base on maps ... There was always Way to much medics , or way to much engineers or way to much X and Y because peoples didnt played the classes for what they were but for what weapons they had access to . The onlyones playing as teammates were scarse and rare or were part of your own squads and friends on teamspeak ventrillo or discord or in your console friendlist lol

 

The specialist and Free class system is WAY better than baseless arbitrary decisions that never served gameplay well

@Man_iLoveFishing have you ever had a random repairing your tanks in other battlefield that were not in your squads ? Because i sure never had , but i did had some freaking randoms getting in my tanks while me and my buddy were reparing to make our tanks blow up 2 seconds laters because he stole it from us ... he enter my gunner spot and reuse to leave and my engi team mates cant get in anymore that happen 10000 times .. Being repair by randoms ? Yep never maybe once across 4 BF release

In 3 and 4 yes. Sure not many times, but yes. Problem is, since it's now basically "free for all", basic stuff is forgotten since everyone can lonewolf now. Classes kind of forced people to play based on weapons like you said. Can't deny on assault issue, but still, there were medics and supporters. Not saying there isn't now, but tbh i rarely see them now. And it's not that only, its how skins look. Ah right, enemy looks the same as my team.

Specialist VS Classes

 

Classes - The idea, and it worked, was that you would be more successful as a squad working together and it promoted that style of game play by restricting certain items to each class. This setup always had me thinking, what does my team need to succeed in the match, and then I would choose that class.  Sometimes that need would change during the match and you would switch classes to fit the role. 

 

Specialist - No restrictions does not promoted team play as much as the classes did.   You can be just as successful solo as you would be in a squad.  As a specialist you can load out as 3          classes in one, so what do you need a squad mate for?  It only supports team play if you choose to do so.  And trust me, it is not happening as often as it did with the classes.  

 

I actually tired to use the repair tool today just to see how it worked.  Very difficult to see if your doing something or not.   You have to watch the vehicle HP counter to tell if your having an affect.

I'm actually not sure if you can destroy a vehicle with one as you could before, as I have tried and been unsuccessful.

Yes, I'm wearing pink glasses. Enjoy that better teamwork now. When so said "best" meta will be in order, anything that you just mentioned will be flushed. Remember, free for all and people will always choose best outcome for scoring, killing.

@Man_iLoveFishingIndeed teamwork is better , me and my squads have much more teamplay opportunities that feel our needs and i dont end up with a full squads of useless recons camping miles away from objectives or support guy camping with a lmg and mortar .. or an assault who only take medic classe to get an AR ACE23 OR AEK ...

 

ALSO dare to say to me repair tools and anti vehicles was of any use in metro or operation.lockers maps ? They were not serving any purpose yet 50% of the poeoples took.enginerr just to have carbines wich are great cqc weapons
