I also have this issue and my internet is 100mbit and no other download going on in the background.

I've already tried doing the instructions here:   https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Address-game-download-install-issues/m-p/9862...   which i think made the issue worse!    I've submitted a error report using the option from the EA desktop menu.

Just an update.

I tried the solution above about a clean boot, but that did not fix the issue.

However it appears to be working again.  It might be one of a couple of things.   When re-enabling some startup programs, i never enabled some razor programs such as Synapse 3, Cortex launcher, gameglass launcher and also updated the nvidia drivers to the latest 471.11.  The app then crashed twice and gave me the option to recover.  Something changed to put my downloads back to full speed.

@BiohaZd I get 20KB/s unless I use a VPN to connect in the Netherlands, then I get 22MB/s. I've tried all the copy/pasted suggestions by the community team here and in other threads.

There's something afoot here.

Well i managed to fix the download speeds by reverting back to an windows 10 version. It turns our one of the new windows updates broke the PC so yeah.

Summarize your bug I'm on fibre. I have 360 Mbps download speed, 120 Mbps upload speed. I am capable of downloading at speeds up to 30 MB/s with many services, so why is it that EA Dekstop fluxuates between 110 KB/s and 500 KB/s? It is extremely frustrating.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try downloading on fibre from the midwest I guess.
What happens when the bug occurs? I cannot get a download speed past 550 or so KB/s on EA Desktop
What do you expect to see? I see slow slow download speeds that keep switching between low hundred and half a thousand

I'm on fibre. I have 360 Mbps download speed, 120 Mbps upload speed. I am capable of downloading at speeds up to 30 MB/s with many services, so why is it that EA Dekstop fluxuates between 110 KB/s and 600 KB/s? It is extremely frustrating. Are you throttling? I've troubleshooted everything. My ports are open for Origin and EA Desktop, I disabled my antivirus and my firewall. I am able to download from other services easily and quickly. Why is a small 160MB or so update so immensely long? I cannot get a download speed past 550 KB/s or so on EA Desktop!

Hey @Spacebutters,
i suggest to stop downloading, clean your PC using e.g. ccleaner (delete all cookies) and restart your machine.
After a restart it should work fine now.

Summarize your bug I contacted both live support and twitter support, but none of them could find a solution to my problem. While downloading the games, my download speed is stuck at 3mb/second and i have 100mbit. I can download games with full speed at other services like Steam, Battle.net, torrent etc... My download speed neither goes below this speed nor goes above 3mb/s. I tried all the solutions on the internet but none of them worked. So anyone knows how to solve my problem?

Hi everyone, I know this is late but it could help someone who comes by in the future! 
I got a free VPN and connected to the Netherlands, my speeds increased by literally 20x 
my 6 hour download is now around 20 mins.
