Sims 4 won´t start or load

★★★ Newbie

Cannot load or start Sims 4. Screen goes all white and then turns to a small square. Uninstalled and re-installed both Sims 4 and Origin, same problem. Have no mods, Origin in Game turned off without any change. Have re-started laptop but nothing! WHY???

Sorry to see that your Origin is not working @moizza07, the best thing to try in this situation is to clear your Origin cache.

You can clear the Origin Cache by following the steps below:

  1. Completely log out and close down Origin
  2. Hold down the Windows key and R
  3. Type in "%ProgramData%" (without quotes) and click OK
  4. Now open the Origin folder.
  5. Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for LocalContent (do not delete this one)
  6. Hold down the Windows key and R
  7. Type in "%AppData%" (without quotes) and click OK
  8. This will take you to a Roaming folder, which is located inside of AppData. Delete the Origin folder
  9. Click on the word "AppData" at the top of your window
  10. Open the Local folder here
  11. Delete the Origin folder listed here
  12. Restart your PC and log back into Origin

Let me know how you get on

I have the same problem, but on a Mac. How do I clear the Origin cache on a Mac?

Re: Sims 4 won´t start or load

@Emmarshall81  Try the Origin reset tool; it's more thorough than just clearing Origin's cache.

@EA_Darko Hi, I have the exact same issue as moizza07 above, however these steps haven't solved it. Had this issue since latest Sims 4 patch on November 18th!!

Hi @EA_Darko

I have done all these steps and my game still won't launch. It's been broken like this since the latest update and EA help are just telling me to wait for next update to be releasedFrown

I also have issues with this. Sims 4 won't even load because it shuts down so fast. I've had the issue before and while I was able to fix it, it required me relying on an IT tech because I was also told "wait for the next update." Except it does this after every update, I think because of the update, and makes it almost impossible to enjoy a game I've historically played to relax. Even my tech was baffled that this was an issue.
