Power Management and Movement

★★★★ Novice

So I have played a few different space flight sims, some good some not good, I was wondering if you were going to be able to move all power from one system to another to the point you remove all power from engines and just let inertia carry you while you do a 180 end over end and fire backward while floating in the same direction you were heading or must you always keep the engines powered? Can you come to a complete stop and have the ship rotate around? Must you always have a forward movement?

@Bearking67 No, apparently you can come to a full stop. I'm sure one of the guys playing the demo said that. I put the clip up on my other thread.

So I can come to a stop? But what about letting inertia carry you while you flip over and fire backwards

@Bearking67 With inertia, there’s a speed boost that lets you drag. I’m sure you could just do a 180 while this is happening

@Bearking67 Yeah, you can do that too as Poe did...

You say you've played a lot of Space Simulators. If I asked you for the Top 3 that you'd recommend to other players, what would those be?

Also, in the case of Elite Dangerous, is there anything you would recommend for someone who uses a DS4 Controller as a Semi-Casual Player?

I'm someone who likes a good Space Game, but wants the Controls to be casual (not a million functions that need a million buttons). The main issue I run into is that games like Elite Dangerous have too many Functions and you can't operate a ship effectively without them (over 200 Functions on a controller that has a limit of 18 Buttons and two sticks).

Please Note: I'm a Semi-Casual Player, so things like Flight Assistance on Aircraft actually gets in the way most of the time. Looking for a Space Game, not so much Space Sim. Any recommendations would be helpful.

http://diaspora.hard-light.net/ This is a fun little sim to play if you like Battlestar.

Elite Dangerous is one that I play.

I really like Fractured Space which was big capital ship space battles but its not as big as it was.

Kerbal space is fun for building and designing ships but no space battles.

The original X-Wing vs tie fighter games.

Between the Stars is another fun game.

Starpoint Gemini series

House of the Dying Sun is a good game.

 EVERSPACE.

Dreadnought is another fun game but doesn't seem to be as active as it used to be.

Try Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

Should be releasing on Steam by the end of this month.    (Its already out on Epic Store)

Its probably the best game in terms of introducing players into space combat games.  Even has power management which will be featured in SW:S.
