I agree with the general response, melee works fine as it currently is. Interceptor fits the close combat role of rapid melee, colossus being the big boy he is fits with AOE. Never tested storm melee, and ranger melee fits for it's balanced role of damage and utility. I personally feel there is no need to change it from its current state.
@Kharneth88I can not begin to disagree with you more. While I would be against javelins other than interceptor having a 2-3 charge with still having the recharge, to give them all unlimited would greatly take away from the uniqueness of the interceptor. It may not be the only thing that makes the interceptor the interceptor, but most definitely plays a very big role in it. The interceptor is a close range specialist javelin who's the one class designed to get up close and personal with the enemy. If ordinance based guns weren't involved in the game and they were class specific weapons instead, Interceptor is defined by its DPS through melee and speed to move around and hit targets with great speed. Just as the ranger is ranged multi-class who can't dish out damage to targets with accuracy, storm, elemental supporter, who can dish respectable damage to groups of enemies, and the colossus being the bullet sponge tank with a shield, capable of being a distraction to even bosses.
While I partially but not totally disagree that it's not a matter of balance, it's a matter of purpose and character of the javelins. And the interceptor is the close quarters javelin with a reason to have unlimited melee.
And do say that the other javelins have no way to get close up is not true. A Colossus has both it's shield and can pack a flame thrower. Both of which can be used together. That is very much close up based equipment. The storm has teleport dodge and that will close a gap real fast, with taking very little damage. The Ranger I didn't really play but give it a shotgun or pistol, and a pilot who's not a sprayer/ spammer and actually aims and hell do just fine. The key thing here, is they have, way to stay up close and fight like the interceptor does outside of the ordinate weapons, and that's how it should be because they aren't built for that.
And please don't bring the whole robot be able to punch through rock unscathed, being a robot, logic into this. This is a video game based on video game logic designed to make it fun. Not something based on reality.
Me: It sucks to not be able to melee somebody more than one hit
Others: That's because Melee is not about melee, it is about combos
Me: Well, that's broken.... What do I do when I run out of bullets, glare and use harsh language?
Others: Well then you should use Interceptor!
Bottom line is that even though our only melee weapon is used for combos, it still sucks to not be able to hit somebody standing in front of me!
This is absolutely not the case. I played Storm exclusively after unlocking it and I can melee more than I care to. I can't prime targets fast enough to abuse a more frequent melee attack and if I found a group of primed enemies I would not need to spam a melee detonator since I'm sure to have an AoE detonator selected as one of my gear options.
A) you can use more primer abilities just for that
b) you can detonate other's primers
As of storm been very fragile. I ma sure in actual game Strom will be one of alternate party tank... with teh right build.
Im not sure if this has been addressed, but I was wondering if the suggestion as been made regarding the sound of the melee strikes with the interceptor. I feel like as cool as that javelin is, it is missing a associated sound when connecting with targets to indicate that you’re cleaving through your foes.
