October Balance Patch Details

EA Plants vs. Zombies Team

Here are all the juicy details of our October Balance Update. We'll be posting these sooner going forward! Look to Mario to provide these in the future!

Full October Balance Patch Notes:

 

Peashooter

  • Pea Gatling
    • New VFX to communicate Pea Gatling to enemies
  • Pea Suped
    • Fix camera not aiming properly when on the ground

Chomper

  • Burrow
    • Removed delay after button input
    • Improved audio for enemy recognition

Kernel Corn

  • Cob Busters
    • Damage increase 3.4->3.86
    • Rate of fire increased 600->650rpm
  • Butter Beacon
    • Gravity decreased -25->-10m/s
    • Velocity decreased 40->32m/s
    • Net effect of longer trajectory
  • Husk Hop
    • Forward launch increase 11->14
  • Shuck Shot
    • Fix issue with firing speed penalty lasting longer than intended

Night Cap

  • Shadow Sneak
    • Add delay on all ability activations after exiting Shadow Sneak 0->0.6s
    • Reactivate delay increased 1.5->2.0s
    • Refresh time 12->14s
  • Fung Fu
    • Total damage reduced from 210->150
    • Reduce number of times damage is applied 7 crit and 19 regular->6 crit and 15 regular 
    • Final blow damage reduced from 40->24
    • Final blow area reduced 5->3m
    • Jump disabled during windup phase
    • Follow through time before other abilities can be activated extended 0.4->1.1s
    • Removed delay after button input

Snapdragon

  • Blue Blazes
    • Extend lifetime of projectile 8->10s
    • Lengthen refresh time 10-17s
    • Increase max speed 18->20m/s
    • Increase max turn angle 120->125
    • Increase damage 75->125
    • Fix projectile not flying straight when it doesn’t have a homing target

Acorn & Oak

  • Shell Shot
    • Damage increase 3.89->4.8
    • Bullet spread per shot rate decreased 1.8->1.65
  • Invoke oak
    • Channeling time 3->4s
    • Pause health regen while invoking
  • Treetop Turret
    • Damage increase 2.04->3.25
    • Rate of fire decrease 1000->800rpm
    • Heat per bullet rate decreased 0.2->0.18
  • Wood Grief
    • Direct damage increase 8.8->16.8
    • Splash damage reduced 20->12
  • Treeject
    • Reduces Acorn launch force 14->5.5
    • Puts Invoke Oak on 20 second refresh timer
  • Super Sap Trap
    • Initial velocity reduced 45->37m/s
    • Shockwave damage radius reduced 8->7m
    • Increase fuse min detonation time 0.1->0.35s
    • Add switch back delay to primary 0->0.55s

Citron

  • Juice Cannon
    • Increase damage from 2.0->2.55
  • EMPeach
    • Increase initial speed 18->55m/s
    • Increase gravity for more aggressive arc
    • Fix weapon switch back delay not occuring 0->0.15s
  • Peel Shield
    • Remove deploy delay of 0.2s
    • Reactivate deploy time 0.5->0.3s
    • Remove back pedal speed modifier
    • Reduced earn rate 10xp/25 damage blocked

Sunflower

  • Sun Pulse
    • Damage increase 4.85->5.58
  • Sunny Side Up
    • Sundrop health increase 2.0->2.5
    • Sundrop launch also heals area 2.5 per launch of bundle
  • Sunbeam 
    • New VFX to communicate Sunbeam to enemies

Rose

  • Goatify
    • Remove weapon swap delay 0.2->0s
  • Upgrade S-Cape
    • Fix movement multiplier to be 15% increase in all directions

 

Foot Soldier

  • Z-1 Assault Blaster
    • Damage increase 3.95->4.4
    • Rate of fire increased 520->550rpm
  • Super Stink Cloud
    • Initial velocity increase 22->35m/s
  • Rocket Jump
    • Windup delay decreased 0.15-0.1s

Mech

  • Mech Robo Laser
    • Fix issue with projectile not maintaining damage at distance
  • Explosive Escape
    • Fix issue with projectile being visible for a few frames

Super Brainz

  • Alpha Better Shield
    • Remove deploy delay of 0.2s
    • Reactivate deploy time 0.5->0.3s
  • Upgrade Reach
    • Charge time increased from 0.6->1.5s for max charge fist
    • Charge time increased from 1.0->1.0s for second charge fist

80s Action Hero

  • Rocket Ride
    • Blast radius 1.6->1.8m
    • Direct damage 10->8
    • Blast damage 10->12
  • Upgrade Leg Day
    • Fix camera that was not hooked up properly

Electric Slide

  • Outta Fight!
    • Removed delay after button input

Captain Deadbeard

  • Barrel Blast
    • Removed delay after button input
    • Reduced time between activation and being able to light fuse 2.5->1.25s

All-Star

  • Football Canon
    • Damage increase 4.75->6.4
  • Imp Punt
    • First connect fuse delay decreased 0.675->0.4s
    • Blast radius increase 2.75->3.2m
  • Sprint Tackle
    • Football Canon priming time reduced 0.9->0.675 after successful connect

Space Cadet

  • Upgrade Bullseye
    • Fix Big Bang Beam not refreshing properly
  • Upgrade Efficiency
    • Adjust upgrade reductions
      • Lvl 1: 2.5->2.0 reload time
      • Lvl 2: 2.5->1.5 reload time
      • Lvl 3: 2.5->1.0 reload time

Engineer

  • Jackhammer(sprinting)
    • Remove strafe and back pedal speed modifier
    • Remove activation delay of 0.1

Can you clarify on that? Is the audio louder or softer?

Can't you list the spawnable changes aswell? For an example: vase weeds, increased cooldown time from 5 minutes to 10 minutes.

So Space Cadet will get stronger and Oak weaker?

 

Takes 20 seconds to reactivate Oak and 0 to reactivate the Station?

 

Please explain this?

@Shaun_Popcap Was there an increase in Super Brains throwing fists move damage radius? If Super Brains so much as looks in your direction and throws a punch, dead; as if the blast radius on his super ball wasn’t generous enough. Also note that an imp punt disappears if the All Star is killed while the imp punt is in flight.
