No internet access = no Sims 4. Unacceptable

★★★ Newbie

I currently have no internet access and the EA app refuses to let me open The Sims 4 because it can't "connect to EA's servers" to, I assume, verify I own the game. I was playing yesterday when I lost internet connection and it worked perfectly fine until I closed out the session.

This is absolutely unacceptable as I have paid nearly $1000 for a game I only have access to when EA says I can...

What I don't understand besides that is I have had this game downloaded on my computer for YEARS, with the addition of buying and adding multiple DLC packs, and updating the game what feels like continuously, so why does EA continually need to verify every single time? There needs to be another way. I'm not a programmer nor do I work in the tech industry so I doubt I have the answer, but as a consumer I know I speak for many when I say this is outrageous.

This is not the first time I have had this issue since switching from Origin to EA when it was first suggested. Now it is forced onto the consumer and it doesn't even work as well as Origin did, and that's not saying much. I have been more than patient. I know many others have this issue. I see every time someone makes comment about playing offline EA mods will comment that you have to go online before going to offline mode (which is rediculous in itself), and then when they respond by saying they don't have internet access then there is no more further input from the EA mods. This is horrible customer service for a game so many people pay so much money for, at times reluctantly I might add because there is always many bugs and other issues such as this topic of do we even own the game we paid for?

I know this is EA's attempt at reducing piracy which I understand, but what I think EA fails to understand themselves is that it is situations like this, where if the consumer does not actually own the product and is at mercy of the corporation despite paying for the product, then why buy it at all? (This leads to more piracy, EA...)

Figure out a solution, fix it and stop ignoring the people that pay for the product.
